Whether you love them or you hate them, you can't deny that the Kardashian family toe the line from time to time. This week, veritable ringleader
incited the ire of the internet after posting some risqué photographs on her Snapchat and Instagram accounts. While the content of the polaroid snaps was explicit, depicting the 37-year-old lounging in a white G-string and fur coat, that's not what people were troubled by. Rather, it was the fact that she attributed her Fulani braids to the white actress, Bo Derek, instead of to black culture.
While one would expect Wendy Williams to take issue with Kim's blatant cultural appropriation, it appears that the American television host had something else on her mind entirely. Williams has become
increasingly outspoken about her disdain for America's most famous family; she's criticised their sudden procreating spree,
on-again-off-again relationship with
, and now, Kim Kardashian's marriage to
.
Williams ripped into the mum-of-three on The Wendy Williams Show yesterday, but it's not because Kim referred to her Fulani braids or cornrows as "Bo Derek" braids (in reference to the actress's role and hairstyle in the 1979 film, 10). Instead, it's to do with her marriage to Yeezy star, Kanye West.
After calling the reality television star "desperate", Williams asserted; "Kim, it’s clear Kanye has nothing for you except dribble and dribble and evil conversation [...] It is clear that Kanye does not pay attention to you. It’s clear to me that you’re desperately trying to stay in the spotlight."
And she didn't just stop there, the 53-year-old continued:
"Kanye makes money, Kim makes more, why are you still doing this? It’s not even about the mother thing, forget the mother thing, because a lot of people will say, ‘Oh, she’s a mother.’ It’s about, she doesn’t have to do that anymore. That would be like Cardi B returning to the poll on a Saturday night or something like that. There were a lot of racy pictures; We saw full boob… sure she has a beautiful body, but so what. Between taking filtered selfies and the 25 hours it probably took to braid your hair that way."

Williams also rushed to the defence of Lindsay Lohan who got embroiled in the "Bo Derek" braids drama over the weekend. After commenting "I am confused" on one of the provocative Instagram snaps, Kim hit back by saying "You know what's confusing.....your sudden foreign accent" - in reference to the amalgamation of accents that the child star has developed since relocating to Dubai.
"No, excuse me, she did not have the foreign accent when she was here," said Williams, sticking up for Lohan.
"Lindsay is back and ready to be back on top".
Well, Kim Kardashian has certainly caused quite the stir once again. All in a day's work, eh?
