Even if you're not a gossip queen (and proud of it!), most of us tend to know what's going on in the celebrity dating world. We experienced universal heartbreak when Anna Faris and Chris Pratt broke up, and anticipate with glee when Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively will expertly troll each other on Instagram next.

But there's still stuff that's beyond us – like that Emily Ratajkowski yesterday sprung on everyone that she got married in secret to her brand spanking new boyfriend. I mean, who saw that coming?! And even the most well-known celebrity couples don't divulge the whole truth to their needy fans (and why should they), as indicated with a recent interview with Jenna Dewan Tatum.

The 37-year-old told Health that her marriage with Channing Tatum is anything but "perfect" and that they have to make a conscious effort to keep the spark alive. She's carved out an impressive career for herself as a dancer, actress and host, and Channing is keeping busy with work in Hollywood too. On top of all that, the couple has four-year-old daughter Everly to look after too.

Jenna and Channing have been married since 2009, and while their relationship seems to be perfect, Jenna strongly opposes this notion. "I despise the word 'perfect,'" she told the magazine. "When people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no one’s perfect."

Rather, she says the relationship continues to flourish simply because they are a "great fit" together.

"It is a great fit as long as you are growing together, and I think up until this point we’ve really grown together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and vice versa."

Jenna clearly has a realistic approach to love and romance, believing no-one and no relationship can be "perfect", but that being supportive and growing individually as people is more important. She also admitted it's no breeze in the park to keep the romance alive, saying she and Channing both consciously make an effort to put work into the marriage.

"I think a couple needs to be conscious and to want to do the work and be willing to look at the parts of you that need work," she said. "Both of us have been pretty aware and willing to do that."

"We’ve always had the same values. But we’re not perfect! Are you kidding?"

She admitted that they fight frequently, even having days "where we don't really like each other", though that's nothing out of the ordinary for any long-term couple.

"We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other," she revealed.

And even in terms of getting intimate, the couple need to put the work in – hard to believe considering Jenna is smoking hot and her husband is a certified looker too.

"We have not yet scheduled sex, but we do schedule time together, so maybe that is sort of scheduling sex," she said.

"We will go away for a weekend to get time, but we have no real regimented schedule. I have friends that do this [schedule sex]; it’s on the calendar. We’ve never done that – it might actually be a good idea."

Even if it's not "perfect", it seems the marriage is still super strong.
