Movies really are amazing aren't they? There's something about a trip to the cinema that still fills me with a sense of childlike wonder, when the screen becomes my whole world and special effects can make me believe that anything is impossible. It's true; filmmakers are experts in fooling us; like magicians, they use all sorts of editing trickery to dupe us into believing in their worlds. Yet, for all their hard work, and all the millions that studios spend in order to get it right, it's amazing how one tiny little blooper is usually enough to jolt you out of the action and make you question the whole narrative. Maybe it's a poorly-choreographed fight between extras, maybe it's a Starbucks coffee cup you can see resting in the wrong shot, maybe it's a wobbly wall on a badly-made set.
Maybe it's even a stunt that's gone horribly awry. But once it's been seen then it can't be unseen.
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that every movie, from Citizen Kane to the Godfather Part II, is guilty of one of these little niggling cinematic sins, and if you're eagle-eyed enough to catch them, then you'll never be able to see the movie the same way again. 9. In Never Been Kissed, this giant poster gets Pi incorrect; it's actually 3.14159.
10. In Frozen, Elsa's braid actually moves through her shoulder
11. It's a Wonderful Life Gets the age of George's brother wrong
12. Watch this web-slinging scene again, and it's very clear that Spidey is a mannequin
Pretty embarrassing right? At least it's managed to take some of the creepiness out of that horrible scene from Se7en. But it's not just movies that are guilty of these kinds of slip-ups. Recently,
a Vanity Fair issue managed to provoke hilarity online when it was discovered that the photographer's photoshop skills were badly lacking. I mean, giving Oprah three hands? Seriously? What the hell were they thinking?
