Revenge or blackmail porn is a low and heinous act. There are, regrettably, websites dedicated to nonconsensual nudes and videos from both celebrities and normal folk alike. I imagine being the victim of these acts is a horrific thing for anyone to have to deal with, but one actress from Mexico used an attempt to blackmail her as a method to spread a message of empowerment and positivity.

Ninel Conde may not be a household name in the US and UK alike, but she's a pretty big deal in
Mexico. The actress, who is well known for starring in various soap operas as well as presenting a range of TV shows and appearing in Celebrity Big Brother, found herself being cruelly blackmailed in the past. The person in question threatened to share a topless photo of the actress unless she paid them, something which Conde wasn't willing to do. But, while the blackmailer more than likely thought that they had the power in this situation, Conde's next move would've no doubt have come as a surprise to them.
Rather than cowering and waiting for the social media storm that follows a leak, Conde decided to leak the photo herself and share the exchange on her Twitter account.

The mom-of-two was contacted by an anonymous blackmailer, who demanded money or else they would release a topless photo of the actress online.
"Hey, Ninel, how much for not uploading your picture?" they asked her, along with a copy of the photo. But she refused to bow to their demands and taking to her Twitter account, the 47-year-old delivered a powerful message.

"Say NO to blackmail. Here I post this before those who want to keep on earning money with the pic of a public person.
"There is nothing bad in the picture, done as a reference for my nutritionist. Here I post it first!"
Conde claimed that the photo had been taken as a reference for her nutritionist, although let's be clear, who cares why she took it? It wasn't for the general public to see in the first place.

Some people made crude jokes about wanting to be her nutritionist, but the majority of her followers were quick to praise Conde on her bold move, with one man saying: "Congratulations to this brave woman, an example for all those who are under pressure of extortion."

Hopefully, this will serve as a lesson to anyone who gets caught in a similar situation and doesn't know what to do. No one should have to go through this sort of thing and the people who are behind the blackmail, quite frankly, are complete douchebags.

Thankfully, in the UK it has been illegal to share intimate images of someone online without their consent since 2015. Hopefully, other countries will catch up and, in the future, people like Ninel won't need to take a similar course of action in order to battle those people who are trying to blackmail them.
