Cast in point, this confused labrador, who was captured on film waging its tail after being abandoned by its Telsa driving owner.

The incident was captured by surveillance cameras earlier this month in a Vancouver Park just north of Portland.

The footage was subsequently obtained by KOIN, and in it, a woman can be seen pulling into a parking lot in her Tesla Model 3, which has a minimum retail price of $37,500, before getting out of the car and opening the back door to let the pooch out.

The dog then begins to wag its tail while looking at her, hoping that it was about to be treated to a walk in the scenic spot.

The woman pretends that's exactly what's happening and leads the dog over to a wooded area before suddenly running back to her car and leaving the animal before the dog has a chance to follow her.

Thankfully, the dog was brought to safety and the care of Portland animal shelter, I Paw'd It Forward.

The charity also shared the footage of the dog's abandonment on Facebook with the following updates about their efforts to trace the animal's owner.

They wrote: "Owner has been identified and cited for Animal Cruelty in the 2nd degree."

The dog, who was named Henry, was subsequently placed into the care of a foster family, where he became good friends with their golden retriever.

However, it wasn't long before this dog found the loving forever home he deserves.

The charity wrote on Facebook: "His family has years of experience caring for older labs - they were one of the very first families to reach out to us when Henry arrived at HSSW.

They understand his medical needs and are ready to provide whatever Henry needs to enjoy a loving, caring home for the rest of his days.

"We can't imagine a better home for him. Congrats, Henry, you're in for some happy days ahead."
