A heartwrenching video showing the reunion between a chimpanzee mom and her newborn has recently gone viral - and boy, is it a tear-jerker.
The footage was captured at Sedgewick Zoo in Kansas on Tuesday after a chimpanzee gave birth to a baby by emergency C-section.
The video shows the mom, Mahale, entering a small room with a bright, blue blanket in the middle of the floor. Initially, she seems confused but once a little gray hand pokes out of the bundle, she quickly realizes it's her son and immediately pulls him into a warm embrace.
The workers at the zoo can be heard praising Mahale, telling her she's doing a "good job" while simultaneously getting emotional at the heartwarming scene playing out in front of them.

"I swear she was crying. Her shoulders were shaking. Omg I’m sobbing," one user wrote.
"Her fast reaction when baby's arm popped out of the blankie that's a good momma. So beautiful," another added, while a third commented: "Something like this is why it’s worth scrolling through hours of junk on this app."
Others even claimed that they couldn't stop re-watching the video - we're with you on that one!
It was reported that a C-section birth was carried out after animal carers noticed Mahale was having difficulties giving birth naturally.
Getting a helping hand from medical professionals at College Hill Obstetrics and Gynecology, the zoo successfully delivered the baby chimpanzee - now named Kucheza - after approximately five hours.
Zoo staff were eventually able to reunite him with his mom two days later.
Dr. Arens, who helped during the delivery process, told Kansas news station KWCH : "The teamwork and the collaboration with human medical doctors and the collaboration with the community, I think that is something that not every zoo has.
"So fortunate to be a part of it here in Wichita."
Please excuse me while I cry over this moment for the 100th time today. Someone pass me a tissue!
