The "world's worst cat" is currently looking for a forever home.

Described as being "not for the faint of heart", Perdita is up for adoption at the Mitchell County Animal Rescue in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. The four-year-old cat found herself in their care on Christmas Eve after her owner died.

This cat repeatedly turned off its owner's alarm:

Her description on Facebook, admittedly, isn't enticing. It reads: "Meet Perdita, not for the faint of heart.

"LIKES: staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again; the song Cat Scratch Fever, the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile, fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick (vet agrees...she's just a jerk).

"DISLIKES: the color pink, kittens (yuk they are so chipper), dogs, children, the Dixie Chicks, Disney movies, Christmas and last but NOT least...HUGS. She's single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space. FREE ADOPTION."

As per ABC News, the shelter's office manager, Brittany Taylor, thought that she was "pretty sweet", but it wasn't long before she realized that she is, in fact, the world's worst cat.

Taylor explained: "The next day, she was a grump. We thought something was hurting her, but it turns out she's just a jerk.

"She pretends like she wants you to pet her and love on her. As soon as you pick her up, she starts growling. She will swat you. She's just all-out awful."

However, if Twitter reactions are anything to go by, it won't be long before Perdita finds a forever home.

The shelter tried to take pictures of Perdita to make her look a bit more enticing to potential adopters, but they had no luck making her look cute, so they decided to be brutally honest when describing her.

However, Taylor said it's not all doom and gloom for Perdita as she'd be great for someone who wants "a good laugh every once in a while."

"She definitely makes you laugh. One minute she wants you, and one minute she's over it."
