In Mexico, the summer is still not over, and the record-breaking temperatures recorded around the world have been even more intense in countries that are already hot and arid.

Some of the creatures most threatened by the climbing Fahrenheit are stray dogs, who can overheat in the hot sun if they don't have somewhere cool to seek shelter. Luckily, it seems as though someone is looking out for them.

When Adolfo Pazzi Ahumada braved the 104°F weather to make a quick stop at his local supermarket for some milk, he discovered that a dog was lying on the floor of one of the refrigerated aisles.

Intrigued, he asked the store owner what the canine was doing there, only to be told by the proprietor of the shop that they had allowed the homeless dog to sleep inside in the cool shop - an act which probably saved the sweltering pooch's life.

According to The Dodo, the clerk told Ahumada: "[The dog] has been here the past [few] days. We suspect he was left behind by his owner. He came to us for help."

They added: "We could only provide him with food, water and some toys from the store that we paid with our money. We let him inside because the temperature outside is really hell-like. We feel bad for him, but he looks happier around the store."

Meanwhile, Ahumada himself stated: "I felt bad for what the dog has passed through. But he is now receiving the love he deserves [sic]."

However, this isn't the first time that human beings have pitched in to lend a helping hand to dogs who have been affected by climate issues. For example, one heroic good Samaritan has taken almost 100 stray dogs into her home, while Hurricane Dorian sweeps through the Bahamas
