A woman has revealed one of her strange habits and the internet just can't help but ask "why?"

On an episode of TLC's notoriously weird show titled My Strange Addiction, a woman in her fifties decided to reveal her urge to lick her cats in order to clean them.

Taking to Instagram, the TV network posted a clip of the addict as a preview for fans to see.

In the video, you can see the woman holding her feline friends before dipping her head down and licking their heads. She then moves towards the body of the animal and starts licking the fur.

Have a look at the strange moment below:

"I know everybody knows I'm a crazy f****** cat lady," she says. "I'm in my fifties. I don't have any children. I never wanted any children. These are my babies. If I was a momma cat I would clean them just like that."

Putting viewers' minds at ease, she continued: "This is not sexual for me at all. Not at all. I don't lick their butts. I don't lick their genitals. I don't even lick the bottom of their paws because, gross, that's litter box.

"And I know they're gross," she admits, though that doesn't stop her from cleaning her so-called "babies" a few times day.

"We're all gross. Everything is bad for you. If I want to groom my cat I'm going to groom my cat. I'm not going to stop licking the cats or eating the cat fur," she added, defiant in her stance. "I'm just not."

Fans weren't impressed with the revelation, with many taking to the comments to express their concern.

"That poor cat," wrote one user. "This is sick. Please stop with this nonsense. Nonsense does not make a show."

"Omg, the look on this poor cat's face..." added another.

"I love cats," a third stated. "But I’m sorry they groom themselves. Licking anything hairy has me gagging."

"Wonder if she coughs up hairballs [too]," said another unimpressed user.

Others couldn't help but call out the network for their portrayal of these "addicts", writing: "Hey TLC why don’t you expend your energy into actually helping these people with the mental health help they desperately need rather than this blatant disregard for their obvious mental illness. Nothing on any of your shows is healthy. Period."

It goes without saying that licking any animal is never a great idea for your general health, let alone the though of having a mouthful of fur to boot.

My Strange Addiction has been hailed as one of the "weirdest" shows on television, showing people's unusual compulsive behaviors.

We've seen some crazy antics on there including a woman who liked to drink shots of paint, another who collected dirty diapers, and another boy who claimed he was in intimate relationships with inflatable animals.

Yikes.

And who could ever forget about the woman who eats toilet rolls as a hobby?

Sakinah, who goes by the nickname Sakinah said she cannot get enough of the stuff and admits to eating it "work, in the car, or at the nail salon."
