Over 50 years after winning Mr. Olympia for the first time aged just 23, Arnold Schwarzenegger's son is apparently on track to overtake him in weightlifting.

Schwarzenegger has worn many hats in his lifetime - actor, politician, father - but it's his reputation as a successful professional bodybuilder that has earned him all the street cred.

Father to five, only one of the 75-year-old's children has followed in his father's footsteps when it comes to acting and pumping iron - his 25-year-old son Joseph Baena.

Having dabbled in acting recently, Baena went to support his dad at the Fubar red carpet, where he opened up about his relationship with the 'Austrian Oak'.

Speaking to Extra TV, Baena was asked what the "best piece of advice" his father had given him was, when the star had first begun following in his father's footsteps. "I mean, just with anything that I do, but especially with acting, he's really supportive and always, you know, pushing me to work really hard, and then make it my own and, and do it on my own," he revealed.

The Bully High actor continued: "But his main piece of advice has always been, do the reps - and it sounds just like the gym - but it really makes sense because it's all about practice, practice, practice. The more that you practice, the more that you prepare for these roles, the better you're going to be and, and I've taken that to heart and I've taken that into every role that I've been doing."

Further into the interview, Baena explained that Schwarzenegger was the best gym partner... Well, duh! He even revealed that he is finally starting to "catch up" with the seven-time Mr. Olympia at the gym. "I'm starting to starting to lift a little," he said, "I'm starting to catch up with the weights but, you know, he pushes me so much in the gym and and we love training together."

When the reporter asked who was the stronger out of the two, Baena diplomatically answered: "Right now, I don't want to say but he'll always be the strongest in the family."

Baena's red carpet interview comes months after he revealed that Schwarzenegger - who had Baena following an affair with his housekeeper Mildred Baena - chose to stop financially supporting him after he graduated college.

The young star discovered that he was the son of the bodybuilding legend back in 2011 from his grandmother, and has since said that the revelation "transformed" his life.

Appearing on the Unwaxed podcast - hosted by two of Sylvester Stallone's daughters, Sophia and Sistine - Baena stated: "I'm really grateful that my dad helped me get through college. But right when college was done, it was just like, 'You go. You're on your own.' I was like, 'Oh, s**t'."

Baena then added that he became a realtor to support himself when finishing college. "I needed a job, and I was not getting any of the acting roles that I thought I was going to get," he said. "I was like, 'I need to do something', so I started interning at this real estate company," he revealed.

Clearly, he's taken Arnie's advice and done the reps!
