Cardi B has hit out at the Dalai Lama, after a disturbing video of the spiritual leader asking a young boy to "suck his tongue" went viral.

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibet with Tenzin Gyatso, who currently holds the title, referring to himself as "a simple Buddhist monk". He's revered by millions worldwide and is often thought to be the reincarnation of his 13 predecessors.

As previously reported, the Dalai Lama was seen hugging and kissing a child on the lips at an event in Dharamshala, northern India. If that wasn't enough, he then asks the child to "suck his tongue". In the widely-shared video, the boy can be seen approaching the religious leader and asking if he is allowed to hug him. The 87-year-old points to his cheek and says: "First here", as he asks for a kiss.

Pointing to his lips, the Dalai Lama says: "Then I think finally here also", as he pulls the boy in by his chin for a kiss on the lips, before sticking out his tongue, and subsequently asking him to suck it.

Many people were shocked, first of all, that it was the Dalai Lama of all people who was involved in something so disturbing - with parents across the globe outraged that a child was put in a situation that felt exploitative.

Mother-of-two Cardi B - who shares Kulture, four, and Wave, 19 months, with Migos rapper Offset - is included in that group. In fact, the 30-year-old 'Clout' rapper took to Twitter to hit out at the Dalai Lama over the incident, writing that parents need to focus on discussing "boundaries" with their children.

"This world is full of predators. They prey on the innocent. The ones who are most unknowing, our children. Predators could be our neighbors, our school teachers, even people wit money ,power & our churches. Constantly talk with your kids about boundaries and what they shouldn't allow people to do to them [sic]," she commented.

Following the intense backlash after the video went viral, the Dalai Lama released a statement expressing his regret over the incident, writing on his website: "A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused."

He continued: "His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident."
