Pictures from Kanye West's birthday celebrations over the weekend have emerged online and showed sushi being served on nearly-naked women.
The 45-year-old rapper - now known simply as Ye - is no stranger to controversy as last year he fell from grace after sharing statements deemed antisemitic on his social media and in interviews.
He turned 46 on June 8 and had an extravagant birthday party in Los Angeles attended by his wife Bianca Censori, daughter North West, and guests including singers Chloe Bailey and Ty Dolla Sign.
Images and footage from the party have surfaced on social media and revealed Ye and guests partaking in the Japanese practice of Nyotaimori - also known as eating sushi off the body of a naked woman.
Check out the video and pictures from West's party below:Nyotaimori is a Japanese practice that dates back to Geisha houses, especially in Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture, as a treat for Samurai soldiers returning from battle, per Cosmopolitan.
Sushi is typically placed on sanitized leaves on the model's body in order to avoid skin-to-food contact. The woman is then expected to lie still for hours on end until all the food is removed from their body.
A video from the Donda rapper's festivities showed a nearly-nude woman laying on a table motionless as sushi was served on trays covering her modesty. The room is dimly lit with candles as Ye's 'Come to Life' is playing in the background.
Upon seeing the pictures/videos, many stunned users shared their thoughts on West incorporating the practice - which is seen as demoralizing and sexist - at his birthday party.
One disappointed user pointed out: "And this the party he brought his 9-year-old daughter to," and another wrote: "This is so dehumanizing and disgusting barf."
A third commented: "I’m sorry this is so degrading. I can’t stand him," while a fourth user said: "When will men stop using women as objects (IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE!)"
The 'Gold Digger' rapper's birthday celebrations come after his ex-wife Kim Kardashian declared in the Season 3 premiere of The Kardashians that her former husbands' outbursts last year have done more damage to her kids than her sex tape ever will.
The 42-year-old SKIMS founder spoke to her mom, Kris Jenner, about the lengths Ye went to publicly humiliate her, such as leaking her text messages and comments about her infamous sex tape with her ex-boyfriend Ray J.
Regarding that, she says: "Even just how he looks down on me for my tape, and brings it up all over town, all over the media. Like, thanks for reminding people once again.
"All of his shenanigans - I don’t even know what the f*** to call it — is gonna be far more damaging to the kids one day than my tape will ever be," she continued.
The successful businesswoman then broke down in tears as she emotionally stated that she doesn't react to Ye's stunts because "one day my kids will appreciate that," adding, "and I know that is the best thing for them".
The former couple has four children: North, nine, Saint, seven, Chicago, five, and Psalm, four.
