While Kylie Jenner has been getting all the attention of late - with Stormi Webster's recent arrival and her top secret pregnancy - her sister Kendall has been taking the modelling world by storm. In 2017, the 22-year-old was named the World's Highest-Paid Model on Forbes' top-earning models list after fronting campaigns for the likes of La Perla and Estee Lauder, and donning Victoria Secret's highly-coveted angel wings.
However, the model's latest photoshoot has caused quite the stir, and it's not because it's uncharacteristically broody, or because she's completely nude. No, it appears that the people of the internet have found something new to fixate on... and it's Kendall Jenner's feet.
The reality television star posed for a series of portraits shot by Sasha Samsonova. The young photographer, who has also worked with Kylie Jenner, Chrissy Teigen and Jordyn Woods, captured Kendall on black and white film. However, her creative use of light and shadow was not the focal point when it came to discussing the end result. Rather, it was the 22-year-old's feet.
In one picture, the model's feet can be seen resting on a deckchair in the sunshine, and in another they are touching some stone steps.
Some critics thought that Kendall's feet resembled "hands", and they came to this conclusion by paying careful attention to the length of her toes. "What’s your biggest fear? Kendall Jenner’s feet," one Twitter user wrote while another practically quaked in terror, adding "I’m actually scared of Kendall Jenner’s feet."
One social media user even had to reevaluate a fictional relationship with the model. "I’ve been in love with Kendall Jenner for years but whenever i look at her feet i realize it would never work out between us," they wrote.
And another individual came to the conclusion that the model has "fingers on her feet".
Some Twitter users, however, rushed to Kendall's defence, and reassured her that she was still "flawless". "Don't worry about all the haters. I've got weird toes too!" one individual wrote, while another corroborated "I finally have something in common with Kendall Jenner - beautiful feet".
While photographer Sasha Samsonova hasn't yet issued comment on #ToeGate, she recently opened up about photographing Kendall's younger sister, Kylie.
Speaking to W Magazine, Samsonova said:
"It’s super raw footage. As soon as my shoots with Kylie come out, so many people write on my page and rant about how it’s all Photoshop, Photoshop, Photoshop.
"But the thing about this video is that there’s no post-production work whatsoever. It’s only cut together. It’s very raw, and we tried to keep it that way—no skin retouching, nothing."
While the world would be a better place if people could just appreciate beautiful photography without feeling the need to pick apart every supposed "imperfection", we're sure that Kendall Jenner is used to it. In fact, she's probably laughing all the way to the bank.
