The new season of American Idol is airing, and features three new judges: Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry. Sadly, Katy did not bring her trusty companion Left Shark along with her, but she's already stealing the show. In the season premiere, she showed off one of her secret talents: a disturbing frog impression. So that happened. Best judge ever. Can Simon Cowell do a frog impression? I don't think so.

But that wasn't the only unexpected moment. During his audition, 19-year-old Benjamin Glaze said he loves working as a cashier, because it gives him an excuse to talk to pretty female customers. Luke Bryan asked if he had ever kissed a girl, making a reference to Katy Perry's hit song "I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It." Benjamin replied, "No, I've never been in a relationship. I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship."

Then Katy Perry got her best idea since wearing a bustier that sprays whipped cream. She asked Benjamin to come over to the judges' desk and plant a kiss on her cheek. The aspiring singer agreed, and did so, but Katy was disappointed because there was no "smooshy kissing sound." (Geez. So high maintenance.)

So, Benjamin went for it a second time, and Katy slyly turned her head at the last second, tricking him into kissing her on the lips. He was so surprised he stumbled over backward. The judges laughed, and he exclaimed, "That's a first!"

After the kiss, Benjamin had a huge smile, and jokingly asked Katy, "How was it?" However, in an interview with The New York Times, he revealed that he was not happy about getting his first kiss on national television:

"I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special. Would I have done it if she said, 'Would you kiss me?' No, I would have said no. I know a lot of guys would be like, 'Heck yeah!' But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special."

Unfortunately, there's no going back now. What was kissed cannot be unkissed. However, after discussing the incident with his friends, they came up with a satisfying solution. "They agreed with me that [the kiss] didn’t really count," said Benjamin. “It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about. That’s what a real first kiss is."

So, take that Katy Perry, you devious pixie. You tried to steal Benjamin Glaze's first kiss, but it didn't work. Swish, swish, bish. And now when Benjamin hits the recording studio, he's got a great topic for a new single: "I Kissed A Katy Perry, And I Deeply Regret It."
