Logan Paul has a huge following across social media, and plenty of admirers too. With 16.3 million followers on Instagram, 4.7 million on Twitter, and 17.7 million subscribers on YouTube, he's got tons of fans willing to defend whatever clueless and insensitive thing he does next - no matter how vociferous the backlash.

If you've managed to come this far blissfully ignorant of who he is (if so, very jealous), Paul is one of the biggest YouTube vloggers out there; one of the Vine creators that emerged from that platform with a big fanbase, turning his past-time into not only full-time employment, but one that has given him all the money, cars, and acres of land that he would ever need.

One of the primary things he's known for now is his unfortunate trip to Japan and its infamous 'Suicide Forest,' where he and his team filmed the body of a man they found, who had recently committed suicide.

Paul then took the footage and his reaction, transferred the footage, edited it into a longer video, added the appropriate soundtrack, then started the lengthy process of uploading it to YouTube. If only he had some time to think about what he was doing.

Once the internet, understandably, had issues with this, he apologised for his mistake and claimed he made the video to "make a positive ripple on the internet" rather than for "clicks" on a monetised video (which he did get, by the way, before the video was taken down).

After this all went down, he promised it wouldn't happen again, and even self-exiled himself from the internet... for about a week.

Soon enough, he was back in the news - first for asking the world for a second chance because "everyone deserves second chances bro" (actual quote), and then for... tasering two dead rats? I swear I'm not making this up.

You would think this doesn't make for a Prince Charming, or even the shouty YouTuber equivalent of Mr. Right, but Paul is still beloved by many who will defend him to the end of the Earth. And, as it turns out, his floppy-haired charm has worked wonders on others too.

After rumours spread that actress Chloe Bennet, perhaps best known for her leading role on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., was dating Paul, one fan stepped up to find out the truth.

"I'm seeing rumors you are dating l*gan p*ul?" they asked, adding. "just wondering why you would do that".

In her response, Bennet not only confirmed the rumours, but stood up for her new partner:

"Cause he's kind, creative, funny, vibrantly curious about life, weird as f**k in all the best ways, a big dork, and he's one of my best friends.

"It doesn't make sense to a lot of people, but it doesn't have too [sic]. He's changed my life for the better and I've done the same for him."

[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/chloebennet/status/1017170572902424576]]

And then the vlogger himself chimed in to all but confirm the news:

Twitter wasn't so ready to accept that Paul's vibrant curiosity was anything but harmful.

Yet some believe that it's all in the past, and everyone has the capacity to learn from their mistakes. And if the mistakes keep happening over and over again - those are just more opportunities to learn, right?

Bennet does bring up a good point - regardless of what makes sense to the public, a relationship is something that only those involved will ever truly understand. And if she is happy with him, that's what her fans (and Paul's) should be happy with. Maybe behind the scenes he's far different from his on-screen persona?

And if you have a problem with her dating him - look on the bright side: at least you're not dating him.
