Al Pacino has opened up about his terrifying near-death experience, in which he claims he was without a pulse.

The iconic actor, who has won numerous awards including an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony, is gearing up for the release of his memoir titled Sonny Boy.

In an interview with the New York Times ahead of the book’s release, Pacino spoke about falling unconscious during the pandemic.

The 84-year-old Godfather star revealed to the publication that he was sitting in his house when he suddenly "didn’t have a pulse".

“In a matter of minutes they were there - the ambulance in front of my house," he recalled. “I had about six paramedics in that living room, and there were two doctors, and they had these outfits on that looked like they were from outer space or something.”

Pacino did not disclose when the frightening incident occurred but told the outlet that he lost consciousness after telling his employees he was feeling “unusually not good” while battling symptoms of the virus, which included fever and dehydration.

The Scarface actor then shared what he saw in his final moment: “I didn’t see the white light or anything. There’s nothing there. I’d never thought about it in my life.

"But you know actors: It sounds good to say I died once. What is it when there’s no more?"

Pacino doesn't seem afraid of death as he has grown to have a "different view of death as you get older," simply brushing it off as "it's just the way it is".

"I didn't ask for it. Just comes, like a lot of things just come," he added.

Despite the scary experience, Pacino revealed that he is happy to have his children as "consolation" and his legendary film discography that spans decades.

The Hollywood star is a father to daughter Julie Marie with ex-girlfriend Jan Tarrant and twins Anton and Olivia with his ex Beverly D’Angelo, whom he dated between 1997 and 2003.

He also welcomed a one-year-old son named Roman Pacino with his 30-year-old girlfriend, Noor Alfallah, in June 2023.

Pacino said in his interview that he wrote a passage about his little boy, sharing that Roman was "one of the reasons, of course," that he decided to release a book.

Sonny Boy by Al Pacino will be released on October 8.
