A drag performer has come forward with a detailed allegation involving Katy Perry, following a separate claim made by actor Ruby Rose on Monday.
These additional accusations come after Perry was alleged to have sexually assaulted the Australian actor and model at a Melbourne nightclub, with the singer forced to come out and deny the claims, calling them “completely false”.
The performer, identified on Threads as Jordana L Moore, described an alleged encounter with Perry during the early stages of her career after attending a concert at The Fillmore.
Moore said she was invited backstage through a mutual connection in the industry and was introduced to the singer following the show.
According to Moore, the situation shifted once Perry learned she performed in a drag band. She recalled Perry reacting by saying: “You do DRAG?”, before allegedly pulling her away from the meet-and-greet area and into a dressing room.
Moore claimed the interaction became uncomfortable once inside, alleging that Perry showed her a costume and insisted she wear it. “Put this on!” Moore said Perry told her. When she hesitated, Moore alleged the situation turned physical, saying: “I’m like STOP but she’s not stopping.”
She said the incident was ultimately interrupted when a manager entered the room and redirected Perry back to her scheduled commitments. Moore added that she left soon after, describing both herself and the person she was with as shaken by what had happened.
Reflecting on the experience, Moore said it influenced how she views the singer’s behavior, alleging there was a lack of understanding around consent.
Taking to Threads, Moore said: “Oh god, I’m going to have to tell my insane Katy Perry experience now. Ugh. I absolutely believe @rubyrose. Sigh.”
Continuing, the drag star detailed her alleged experience with Perry: “I’m being pulled away back to Katy’s dressing room downstairs. Now we are in the dressing room with her costume guy who seems incredibly over it.
"Here’s where it gets even weirder. Katy opens a giant road case of her costumes. She pulls out the banana skirt costume and hands it to me ordering me to 'Put this on!'. I’m like Um 'this won’t fit'," Moore added.
Perry was performing at The Fillmore in 2009 when the reported meeting occurred, and according to Moore, things quickly turned physical: “That when she starts pulling my shirt off and I’m starting to feel super uncomfortable. I’m like STOP but she’s not stopping.
"I’m looking at her costume guy who’s looking at me like this happens every night and I’m like WTF is even happening right now. At this point her manager comes in and basically shuts it down while she’s starting to pull at my jeans. He’s like 'Katy you have to go sign the posters for the girls upstairs, we don’t have time for this!' And he leads her away while she’s arguing with him.”
Moore added: “I feel relieved that I’m not going to be forced into a tutti fruity costume that absolutely won’t fit me and I’m shaken… The point here is that I have experienced her not understanding consent first hand and I have no doubt she assaulted Ruby. That woman is crazy!!!”
While Perry has responded via a spokesperson to the allegations made by Ruby Rose, who has since deleted her social media, she is yet to comment on the alleged incident involving Moore.
