Katy Perry has now responded to claims that she sexually assaulted actress Ruby Rose, calling them "categorically false".
The Orange Is The New Black star came out with the bombshell claim on Sunday evening (April 12), in a reply to an article about the artist's reaction to Justin Bieber's Coachella set.
Rose, 40, said that it has "taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly," as she alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Perry at a nightclub in Melbourne when she was in her early 20s.
The Australian actress and model, who is known for her roles in titles such as Batwoman and John Wick: Chapter 2, made the allegations against the American artist in a series of posts on Threads, concluding that she had gone to police with her claims.
But now, Perry has hit back with a statement of her own.
A representative of Katy Perry's has now unequivocally denied the claims brought to her by Ruby Rose, in a statement shared on Monday.
It read: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,
"Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
Since the actress' initial allegations, she has posted a number of times about the topic on Threads.
Rose admitted to followers that "as a woman, for a myriad of reasons, opening up about W on W [women-on-women] violence and sexual abuse, seems to be 100 times harder than speaking about the male predators, at least for me."
Replying to a follower who suggested that she was speaking out in relation to a Twitter feud which she had with Perry in 2017, she replied that she's "not interested in filing a report over this."
The actress further alleged: "[Perry] is more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people),
"Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one."
The actress had replied to a post of Perry at Coachella, when she wrote: “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks.”
When asked by followers, she further explained: “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40.
“It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.
“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”
Rose went on: “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face till my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.
“After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone.
"Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes," she stated.
