When pictures emerged of Antoni Porowski of Queer Eye fame looking somewhat sorrowful next to enthusiastically tongue-tied pair Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale, everyone in the world could relate.
We've all been the third wheel at some point in our lives; you're having a nice outing with your two friends (who happen to be seeing each other), everyone's having a good time, nobody feels left out, and then bam.
Big mood, Antoni. Big, big mood.
With rumours of the pair's romance just that - rumours - at this point, we were already kind of taken aback by Pete and Kate's intense round of tongue tennis (I think Davidson had the match point), but Antoni's apparent awkward squirming is what makes this picture truly timeless.
It's got evergreen viral hilarity; timeless even in the event the pair call off their engagement, and Davidson calls his tattoo artist once again, feeling a distinct sense of déjà vu as he does so.
We all have an idea of what we think was going on in Antoni's head as this went on, but what was his reaction to the now timeless photo? Initially, Antoni just posted this photo to Instagram, of himself with his pal Pete, captioning it: "Random pic of me and my frahnd no reason at all totes random love u Petey xo [sic]".
But in a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, flanked by his friends on Queer Eye, Antoni explained to Jimmy Kimmel what was going through his mind, and unfortunately, it's got nothing to do with being the hapless third wheel, lamenting how single he is.
Partly because Antoni's not single: he confirmed via Instagram in December that he was dating Trace Lehnhoff, the 30-year-old former star of the reality show Flipping Out.
But it's also partly because he wasn't really paying attention to that intense makeout session going on at his nine o'clock. In reference to Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale going at it, Antoni added: "There were two hockey players going at it, basically beating the hell out of each other, and I was genuinely concerned."
That's it, folks - there was a hockey fight going on, and at that exact moment, Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale thought it'd be a good time to sneak a kiss.
I kind of have to wonder why watching two hockey players beat each other to a pulp was the thing that got the couple's engines running, but whatever floats your boat, I suppose. But apart from that, Antoni said Kate was pretty cool, and that they chatted throughout the hockey game.
She was "very funny, witty, and charming AF", Antoni explained, and I can certainly believe that.
Pete Davidson's having a great time with it all, you can tell; he confirmed the news they were dating on SNL the following Saturday from that infamous kiss, and in response to criticism he had over their age gap (Davidson is 25 while Kate Beckinsale is 45), the comedian had this to say:
"So if you have questions about a relationship with a big age difference, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio, Jason Statham, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Jeff Goldblum, Scott Disick, Dane Cook, Derek Jeter, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn and whoever the president of France is."
So there you have it, folks. Pete's cool with it, Kate's cool with it, and now you know that Antoni Porowski's cool with it, no matter what his original face implied. Everybody's cool with it. Let those kids be happy.
