At the premiere of the Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour concert movie in Los Angeles, the spotlight was unexpectedly shifted from the stage to the red carpet following a confrontation ignited by rising star Chappell Roan.

The 26-year-old singer, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has transformed from an underground pop princess to a beloved music sensation over the last year.

Known for her fervent personality and candid expressions, Roan confronted a photographer she accused of being rude at a previous event, demanding an apology in a moment caught by cameras and shared widely across social media.

Roan appeared to recognize the photographer from a past unpleasant encounter at this year's Grammy Awards back in February.

Asserting herself in front of the flashbulbs, she didn't hesitate to express her displeasure. "You were so disrespectful to me at the Grammys," Roan recounted, asking for the respect she felt she deserved.

"You yelled at me at the Grammy party," the singer appeared to say in the widely circulated video. "Yes, I remember. You were so rude to me. And I deserve an apology for that. You need to apologize to me"

A red carpet working can then be seen approaching, as the singer continued: No, no, no, you need to apologize."

Despite her assertive approach, it is unknown if Roan received her apology.

This isn't the first time Roan has had a run-in with the paparazzi. Just over a month ago, she was filmed snapping at a photographer during the VMAs pre-show. Wearing a medieval-themed outfit, she was caught on camera retorting sharply: "You shut the f--- up!"

"No! Not me, b***h," she added, prompting cheers from many of the observers on the red carpet.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about that incident, she said: "This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying.

"And I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that.”

Following her public confrontations, Roan also made headlines for canceling her performances at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York and Washington, DC.

Citing mental health concerns, she took to Instagram to apologize to fans, explaining that the pressure had become too much to bear.

It came after the singer opened up about her mental health during an interview with The Guardian.

Roan shared her ongoing battle with severe depression, describing symptoms such as brain fog and a persistent lackluster outlook on life.

“I went to a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I don’t know what’s going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn’t think I had because I’m not actually sad,” she shared. “But I have every symptom of someone who’s severely depressed."

The 'Pink Pony Club' songstress stated that some of her symptoms include brain fog, poor focus, forgetfulness, and “a very lackluster viewpoint".

She believes that her depression is rooted in her life changing so quickly. “Everything that I really love to do now comes with baggage,” she explained. “If I want to go thrifting, I have to book security and prepare myself that this is not going to be normal."

She also explained how she disliked elements of being a "celebrity".

"I’m very turned off by the celebrity of it all," she told the outlet. "Some girls have been in this so long that they’re used to that, but I’m not that girl. I’m not gonna be a sweetie pie to a man who’s telling me to shut the f*** up."

Regarding her fanbase, she added: “They think I’m complaining about my success. I’m complaining about being abused.”

In August, the singer shared a video on her social media platforms blasting the public for expecting to have access to her at all times.

“I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous, whatever. I don’t care that it’s normal,” she said.

“I don’t want whatever the f*** you think you’re supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity,” she further explained. “I don’t give a f*** if you think it’s selfish of me to say no for a photo or for your time or for a hug – that’s not normal, that’s weird!”
