Dealing with the paparazzi is probably one of the less enjoyable parts of being a celebrity, but Taylor Swift has been praised for how she handled them swarming her recently.

The singer, 33, was the woman of the night at the MTV VMAs on September 12 after she made history by winning in nine categories, including her fourth Video of the Year win.

After sweeping up on the night, the waiting photographers outside the event in New York were all clamoring to get photos of her, leading to her being surrounded as she headed to her car.

While there are many incidents of celebs snapping at overzealous paps, Taylor has been praised for how she handled the overwhelming moment.

Following the event, Taylor headed to Diddy's afterparty, and it was then that she was surrounded by snappers trying to get a photo.

She was seen calmly walking into her car as she told the relentless photographers: "Can you back up? Seriously back up," but then thanked them for doing as she asked.

Fans were quick to praise the singer for dealing with the pushy paps in such a polite and calm manner, tweeting: "Politely, but powerful! That's my queen!"

Others added: "As she should. Respect her space",  and: "Yes tell em Taylor."

Another wrote: "she was so polite", while someone else commented: "Then she said 'thanks' [crying emoji]."

Despite being hounded by the paps, Taylor had a very memorable night, as she won some of the most coveted awards of the night, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year, for her hit track 'Anti-Hero' from her album Midnights.

She currently holds the record for the most Video of the Year wins with four, and she also claimed the moon man statues for Best Direction and Best Pop Video, as well as Best Artist, Visual Effects, Album of the Year, Show of the Summer, and Best Cinematography.

She was also super excited to be presented one of her awards by the band 'NSync, who had surprised everyone by reuniting on the night.

Of course, Taylor made sure to quiz them on what projects they may have coming up for them to all be together on the night, proving she's just as much of a fangirl as any of us.

Of all her accolades, Taylor was most proud of winning Video of the Year once again, saying on stage: "The fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me. All I have to say tonight is thank you. I'm blown away."

Taylor's nine awards in one night is also just one shy of equalling the single-night record of Peter Gabriel who took home 10 awards in 1987.

She is also now the second most-decorated singer in VMA history with 23 awards, only seven less than Beyoncé, but could easily close that gap next year if she has an equally illustrious evening in 2024.
