Cher is shutting down the haters about her relationship as people give their thoughts on her partner who is 40 years her junior.
The 79-year-old pop icon has zero time for critics of her 40-year age gap romance with boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards, 39 — and she’s letting the world know it.
Appearing on CBS Mornings on Tuesday, the music legend sat down with Gayle King to dish on her three-year relationship with the music executive — and why she’s completely unbothered by the chatter.
Cher Hits Back
“Whatever,” Cher shrugged, brushing off the criticism. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
And it’s not just her brushing it off — AE is right there with her. “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger,” he tells her, according to Cher.
When it comes to explaining their connection, Cher didn’t hold back.
“We laugh all the time, you know? I just love him,” she said, glowing. “I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
She even opened up about her close bond with Edwards’ six-year-old son, Slash.
“I used to say, ‘God, give me a toddler and a man,’” she joked. “Exactly” what she got.
“He’s so funny. He’s so smart. He’s a delight,” Cher added.

Cher has been unapologetic from the start of this relationship. Back in 2022, when she first made things social media official with AE, she faced a wave of skepticism online — and clapped back instantly.
Via X (formerly Twitter), she hosted a Q&A and let loose: “Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A [flying] F*** WHAT ANYONE THINKS.
“I’m Not Defending Us. Haters are Gonna Hate…Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”

The couple recently made headlines after stepping out in style at Alan Faena’s new hotel in West Chelsea on October 10.
They weren’t just arm-in-arm — they were hand-in-hand, giving full PDA vibes at the private opening of Faena Art’s “Amaze, Vogue, Ascend, Flourish” installation.

Cher even dished out scoops of her own “Cherlato” gelato, alongside gelato-maker Gianpaolo “Giapo” Grazioli.
“Cher and her boyfriend were very close and stuck together…They seem very much in love and happy to be together,” a source told Page Six. “She was in great spirits, hanging out with friends and her boyfriend. The entire night felt electric and free.”
And yes, the gelato is the real deal. “I was tasting everything, going from one to another,” Cher said of the R&D process. “We had like 10 chocolates, because we’re still working on it all the time.”
But don’t think for a second this is just a celebrity cash grab. “First, I want to say this — I get offered to do everything,” Cher told King. “I don’t want to. I just don’t want to because people feel that I wouldn’t lie to them. I don’t ever want that to change.”
