When Chris Pratt first started to gain some notoriety after his role in Parks and Recreation, he set many hearts aflutter with his boyish charm, cheeky sense of humour, and - surprisingly, to some - his sexy "dad bod".

Yes, contrary to what a lot of people tend to think, it turns out that a bit of weight on a guy is very appealing to many women - and Pratt's "regular dude" look won him a lot of attention from the ladies. And this popularity only grew as he began to take on bigger parts on screen - first with Guardians of the Galaxy, and then with Jurassic World.

By this point, though, Pratt didn't really look like the guy that everyone was used to. Gone were his tubby belly and chubby cheeks, and in their place was this dude:

You've gotta admit: he scrubs up well.

Even so, the "new" Pratt wasn't perceived by everyone as being an improvement on the "old" one. Indeed, many people said they missed his dad bod, and wished that the actor would relax with his workout schedule just a little so that he could go back to how he was.

Well, those folks got exactly what they wished for, as Chris Pratt was spotted ringing in 2019 with a new and improved dad bod.

While vacationing in Mexico over the holidays, the 39-year-old actor was photographed looking much more like his former (and arguably sexier) self, and Twitter is absolutely obsessed with it.

Pratt previously explained to the Daily Telegraph that, when he hadn't been hitting the gym as hard, he actually got more varied roles.

"When I got a little bit out of shape and flubby, I had to depend on my sense of humour, my sense of timing, my improvisation skills," he said. On the contrary, when he was a little more toned, he tended to fit "the male version of the hot girl roles - the jerk boyfriend or bully."

In Pratt's eyes, those sorts of parts just aren't as fun to play.

"Most of the time those roles are generally underwritten, just like they have been for women for decades and decades, and I wasn't right for them," he explained.

Other people aren't quite as happy about Pratt being "out of shape", however, as they think it means that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 won't be shooting any time soon. According to IMDb, though, the third instalment of Jurassic World is due to be released in 2021, so Pratt will probably be expected to get his muscular figure back for that.

Until then, let's enjoy the dad bod while we still can.
