David and Victoria Beckham send emotional 'olive branch' message to Brooklyn on birthday after family feud
David and Victoria Beckham have posted a social media message to their son, Brooklyn, on his birthday, despite the ongoing feud.
The former footballer and fashion designer both took to Instagram with heartfelt messages for their son, offering what many see as an olive branch after months of reported tension within the famous family.
Their posts come six weeks after Brooklyn made headlines when he shared a lengthy statement on social media announcing that he was severing ties with his family, making a series of dramatic allegations about his upbringing and family dynamics.
David Beckham shares heartfelt birthday message for ‘Bust’
David marked the occasion by posting childhood photos of Brooklyn on Instagram, tagging his wife Victoria in the post and using the nickname he has long had for his son.
Alongside the images, the former Manchester United and England star wrote: “27 today. Happy Birthday Bust. We love you x”.
The affectionate post was followed shortly afterwards by one from Victoria, who shared the same childhood photo of Brooklyn.
She added her own message for their son, writing: “happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much,” before also posting another image of herself laughing with Brooklyn accompanied by several love heart emojis.
Brooklyn Beckham’s bombshell statement about his family
Brooklyn, who now lives in the United States with his actress wife Nicola Peltz, made headlines earlier this year after posting a lengthy six page statement on Instagram explaining why he wanted to distance himself from his family.
In the message, shared in January, he made several accusations about how his parents had handled their family’s public image.
“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” he wrote in six pages of text, shared on Instagram.
“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
He continued by claiming he had witnessed attempts to manipulate public perception in order to maintain appearances.
“Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
David Beckham previously attempted a public reconciliation
This is not the first time David Beckham has attempted to publicly reach out to his eldest son.
On New Year’s Eve, he shared a round up of family photos on Instagram that included an image of Brooklyn as a teenager.
Alongside the post, he wrote: “I love you all so much.”
Other images in the post featured David with sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper. The final image showed Victoria with all four of her children alongside the caption: “You are my life.”
Victoria Beckham later reshared the post on her own Instagram account, adding a love heart emoji to the image featuring David and Brooklyn.
Family celebrations continue without Brooklyn
Brooklyn’s birthday comes shortly after the Beckham family gathered to celebrate his younger brother Cruz turning 21.
David and Victoria hosted a lavish celebration for Cruz at The MAINE in Mayfair ahead of his birthday on February 20, complete with a luxury three course meal.
The event brought together most of the Beckham family, including siblings Romeo, 23, and Harper, 14, as well as maternal grandparents Tony and Jackie, aunt Joanne, and paternal grandmother Sandra.
Brooklyn was notably absent from the celebrations.
During the party, Victoria, Harper and Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 31, reportedly moved the young musician to tears with a heartfelt speech.
David also shared a birthday tribute to Cruz on social media, describing him as a son who is “kind, considerate and fiercely loyal”.
Posting video footage of Cruz as a child, the former footballer wrote: “Happy 21st birthday to my little boy.
“Not so little anymore but the proudest thing that I am of you is the person and man that you have become, you are kind, considerate and fiercely loyal to your family, friends and everyone around you which makes you a very special person.
“You are on your own journey in life and you are working hard and having fun which is what life is all about... We love you Cruzie and hope you have the most amazing day because you deserve to.”
