The rapper Eminem has celebrated 12 years of sobriety in a recent social media post, and his fans are showing him their support.

The 47-year-old Grammy award-winning artist, (also known as, Marshall Mathers) took to Twitter this week, uploading a picture of a sobriety coin he had received from Alcoholics Anonymous to announce the achievement, Eminem wrote: "Clean dozen, in the books! I'm not afraid."

Take a look at Eminem's 2020 Oscar's performance:

Eminem has openly discussed his issues with drug addiction and substance abuse in the past, revealing he was once taking up to 30 Vicodins and  40-60 Valiums a day during the height of his dependence.

Per MTV, commenting on his experiences in the documentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs, Eminem stated: "When I took my first Vicodin, it was like this feeling of 'Ahh.' Like everything was not only mellow, but [I] didn't feel any pain. I don't know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more."

He added: "People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say, 'Get that f*cking person outta here.' I'm not out there shooting heroin. I'm not out there f*cking putting coke up my nose. I'm not smoking crack."

In  2007 Mathers was hospitalized due to a methadone overdose, an experience that motivated him to get clean and stay that way. Discussing the OD in an interview with MTV, he stated: "My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn't think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death."

The artist's fans have showed their support for him on Twitter. For instance, one follower wrote: "You’re an inspiration to so many people out here struggling everyday with addiction. You’re proof that anything is possible if you work at it. You motivate billions from all over the world who admire you. Kudos to you for fighting for your own life. We love u. You’re family. [sic]"
