Justin Bieber’s mom has sparked speculation after sharing a cryptic message to Selena Gomez after she got married to Benny Blanco.
The 33-year-old actress and singer tied the knot with the music producer, 37, in a lavish California ceremony.
The groom shared a series of intimate photos of the special day on Instagram, describing Gomez as his “real-life Disney princess”.
But just as the newlyweds posted their official wedding shots, Gomez's famous ex-boyfriend's mom, Pattie Mallette, 50, took to the social media platform with a post that fans quickly deemed suspiciously timed.
A prayer post sparks speculation
Mallette shared black-and-white photos of her son, including one of him wearing a “pray for me” T-shirt, alongside a lengthy caption filled with spiritual declarations and prayers.
“We’re cheering you on and praying for you always Justin,” she wrote.
“I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin.
"Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain - be broken in Jesus’ name.”
She continued: “Holy Spirit, surround him with truth, light, and protection.
"Heal every wound in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS.
“Fill him to overflowing with Your love and comfort.
"Continue to raise him up as a voice for Your Kingdom, unshaken and on fire for You Lord. Silence every voice that doesn’t come from You, and let his life be a bold witness of Your power, love, and healing grace. Say amen if you agree," she concluded.
While there was no mention of Gomez, fans flooded the comments, linking the post to her wedding.
“Nothing, it’s just a Selena’s wedding,” one user wrote.
Another speculated: “His mom knew his feelings to Selena since her wedding is tomorrow.”
Others criticized the timing more directly: “Like u should not have posted this right u know his ex is getting married,” another comment read.
Bieber’s own post raises eyebrows
Adding fuel to the speculation, the 'Yummy' singer himself posted on Instagram the same weekend - seemingly unrelated content about playing basketball in Los Angeles.
However, fans quickly picked up on the audio choice: his own song 'I Do', a love ballad about his nuptials to Hailey Bieber.
The post, made as the couple's nuptials were unfolding less than 100 miles away, led to a wave of fan comments suggesting a hidden message.
“You lost her, get over her,” one wrote.
“The love of your life just got married [thumbs up emoji],” another added.
“Benny: I Do! Justin: I do too,” a third quipped.
Others pointed out the oddity of pairing a wedding song with a basketball game.
“A song about your wedding in a basketball photo, one wants to help but this man doesn’t cooperate,” a user commented.
Selena's fairytale wedding
While speculation around Bieber's post circled, Gomez and Blanco’s wedding drew praise from family and fans alike.
The Emilia Perez star's mom, Mandy Teefey, called it a “perfect celebration,” writing on Instagram: “All my love to my beautiful daughter @selenagomez and to the greatest son-in-law @itsbennyblanco!!!”
She added: “It was a fairytale come true, and it was beyond heartwarming watching my father walk her down the aisle!!! XO.”
Gomez has been open about her close relationship with her grandparents, David and Debbie, who helped raise her.
Debbie previously celebrated her granddaughter's engagement with the message: “Our prayers have been answered,” per Metro.
Gomez and Blanco began dating in June 2023 after years of working together in the music industry, having first collaborated in 2019 on 'I Can’t Get Enough'.
The 'Who Says' songstress had previously revealed she was considering adopting a child by 35 if she hadn’t found a partner.
Speaking to Time Magazine, she shared: “I was alone for five years... Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
