Out of all the popular female music artists out there today, there are two people that really stand out as being pretty much at the top of their game: Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. Both musicians have attained worldwide fame, achieved countless awards for their work, and have always been outspoken against critics.

Unfortunately, they're also both recognised for having fairly volatile temperaments - as well as a strong dislike for one another.

So, when the pair of them both turned up to the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party last night, people probably expected to see a few shady side-eyes or some catty comments, at the least. What nobody could have predicted, however, was that Cardi would try to initiate a fist fight.

As can be seen in the video above, the Bodak Yellow artist, wearing a beautiful red gown, lunges towards Minaj in an attempt to physically attack her. She also throws a shoe during the altercation.

Not long after the incident, Cardi posted a long message on her Instagram page addressing what had happened.

"I've let a lot of s**t slide!" she wrote. "I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, f**k up the way I eat! You've threatened other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you'll stop f**kin with them!! I let you talk big s**t about me!!

"I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped a plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f**kin off!! I've worked too hard and come too far to let anybody f**k with my success!!!!"

The exact comments that Cardi is referring to are unclear, but we can infer that Minaj said something insulting about the rapper's baby girl, Kulture.

Despite being the one to initiate the violence, though, Cardi was the only one to sustain any injuries. Pictures of her with a lump on her forehead emerged shortly after the incident, and it has since been confirmed that it was caused by one of Minaj's security guards elbowing her in the head.

She also came away with a torn dress and, presumably, a damaged ego.

Minaj, meanwhile, seems to have got away without any harm done, and has yet to even comment on the matter. However, you can bet that she'll bring it up in her radio show.

The ongoing feud between the two started all the way back in 2017 - but even then, people weren't entirely sure what had caused the rift. It just seemed to be a slow build-up of cheap shots being thrown from one rapper to another, with each one getting ever more close to the bone.

After this most recent incident, it really does seem like the pair's relationship is at a make or break point; either they need to set aside their differences and be civil to one another, or keep their distance as best they can - lest another fight break out.
