Gwyneth Paltrow leaves fans horrified as she suffers wardrobe malfunction at Oscars

Fans spotted that Gwyneth Paltrow appeared to have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction after choosing a risky dress for the 2026 Academy Awards.

The 53-year-old Marty Supreme star and Oscar winner turned heads at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday night after arriving in a daring white gown featuring dramatic sheer slits running along both sides of the dress.

But the bold look nearly resulted in a wardrobe malfunction that sparked strong live reactions online.

In a clip shared to X, Paltrow can be seen making her way through the Dolby Theatre, where the ceremony was held.

As she carefully walked down a set of steps, the actress lifted the long hem of her gown to avoid tripping when the high slits in the dress briefly revealed more than she likely intended.

The moment appeared to flash skin as well as a glimpse of her backside which viewers were quick to comment on.

“Talk about a red carpet nightmare,” one person wrote. “Jeez! That was so awkward,” another added.

A third viewer questioned whether the dress had malfunctioned entirely, writing: “Did her dress break?”

Despite the brief malfunction, Paltrow herself appeared completely unfazed as she continued walking through the busy venue as she was guided to another area inside the theater.

Earlier in the evening, the Iron Man star had posed confidently on the red carpet in the striking strapless gown.

The dress featured sheer nude panels that stretched from her hips toward her upper midriff, creating the illusion of dramatic cutouts along the sides.

While the look certainly drew attention, several fans came to defend the actress in the comments.

“She looks great. It happens. I didn’t see anything,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Things like that can happen to anyone, especially at big events like the Oscars.”

Later during the ceremony, Paltrow stepped onto the stage to help present the inaugural Academy Award for Best Casting, which ultimately went to One Battle After Another.

The actress appeared confident as she walked across the stage in the same eye-catching ensemble alongside actor Chase Infiniti.
