Hugh Jackman has sparked fresh speculation after appearing to send a subtle message to ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness following reports she wants to meet his new girlfriend, Sutton Foster.
The Australian actor, 57, was recently spotted in New York holding hands with Sutton, 51, as the pair headed to the gym together.
But it was Hugh’s outfit that caught attention, with the star wearing a hoodie emblazoned with the words: “finish it," as seen in recent paparazzi images.
The appearance came shortly after reports claimed Deborra-Lee, 70, had asked to meet Sutton in an effort to find “closure” after the end of her marriage to Hugh.
According to New Idea magazine, Deborra-Lee is hoping the meeting could help ease tensions following the couple’s highly publicized split.
“This isn't about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It's about closure,” an insider reportedly told the outlet.
The source claimed Deborra-Lee had previously avoided the idea of meeting Sutton altogether, but had since changed her mind.
“For the longest time, Deb swore off the idea of even being in the same room as Sutton,” they said. “But at this point it feels like something she needs to check off her list, if only to put an end to the awkwardness... also so she can speak her truth.”
Hugh and Sutton confirmed their relationship publicly in January 2025, roughly a year after Hugh announced his separation from Deborra-Lee following nearly three decades together.
The insider also alleged the actress has found it tricky, especially with how public Hugh and Sutton’s romance has become.
“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialize with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating,” they claimed.
“It might be easier to take if they weren't constantly all over each other.”
According to the report, Hugh and Sutton were reportedly surprised by Deborra-Lee’s request, though they were said to be open to the idea of meeting in order to “clear the air.”
The actor recently faced backlash online after attending the 2026 Met Gala with Sutton, an event he had regularly attended over the years with Deborra-Lee before their split.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee made their final Met Gala appearance together in 2023. He attended solo in 2024 before skipping the event entirely the following year amid their separation.
This year marked Hugh and Sutton’s first Met Gala appearance as a couple, with the pair photographed sharing affectionate moments while walking the red carpet together.
Rumors have continued swirling that the couple could already be planning to marry.
Back in February, Globe reported that Hugh had rejected suggestions of signing a prenup ahead of a possible wedding.
According to the publication, Hugh, whose fortune is reportedly estimated at $170 million, allegedly viewed the idea as “offensive.”
An insider also told New Idea that the pair are considering a small New York wedding once Sutton’s divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin is finalized.
“[Hugh's] told his team to keep a big window open for him and Sutton to tie the knot and have a ‘honeymoon tour’ of Europe, where they can see his mum,” the source claimed.
The insider added the couple are reportedly planning an “intimate” ceremony with close friends from the theatre world.
