Jada Pinkett Smith has opened up about the infamous Oscars slap, but it turns out that it might have had a positive impact on her marriage.

Jada and Will Smith are no strangers to the public eye, as both have forged an incredible career in their own right.

That being said, their marriage has been in the public eye recently as Jada made a number of claims about how they have allegedly been separated for years, and how her soulmate is Tupac Shakur.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Jada candidly shared how Will's now-famous slap at the 2022 Oscars - when he hit host Chris Rock across the face - played a crucial role in saving their marriage.

The shocking incident, where Will charged onstage to defend his wife's honor after a remark about her alopecia, turned out to be a turning point for the couple.

"After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him," Jada revealed in the interview. Reflecting on the incident, she added: "Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?"

Despite the revelation in October that the couple had quietly separated seven years ago, Jada highlighted the impact of the "holy slap." She referred to the incident as such because of the positive changes that followed.

"I call it the 'holy slap' now because so many positive things came after it," Jada expressed, emphasizing that being present at the event was crucial despite almost missing it. "That moment of the s*** hitting the fan is when you see where you really are."

The couple's relationship came under public scrutiny with the release of Jada's tell-all memoir, Worthy, nearly two months ago.

In an onstage appearance alongside Jada, Will described their relationship as "brutiful" - a combination of brutal and beautiful. He thanked his wife for her support and acknowledged that his dreams were "largely built on the foundation of Jada’s sacrifices."

Will also revealed in an email to the New York Times in October that Jada's memoir "woke [him] up." He acknowledged the challenges of maintaining sensitivity in a long-term relationship, stating: "When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in."

Jada recently opened up about being entirely committed to her marriage, per a report by Entertainment Weekly.

"We’re staying together forever," Jada confirmed. "I tried. We tried," in reference to the couple’s several years-long separation.
