It's a sad fact that female actresses are disproportionately body-shamed compared to their male counterparts; although both genders in the entertainment industry are routinely expected to put up with it.

It seems somewhat farcical that some of the most beautiful people in the world can be nagged by others about what to eat, what to wear, and how much they should weigh. Yet that's the toxic lifestyle to which many are forced to contend with. Even Jennifer Aniston, who still looks amazing at the age of 50, hasn't managed to escape this kind of sexist judgement.

Indeed, in a new book celebrating the 25th anniversary of the sitcom Friends (the show that made Jen a household name), author Saul Austerlitz revealed has revealed that Aniston faced her fair share of body shaming before she made it big. In 'Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era' - Saul claims that Jen had a rude awakening to the shallow attitude prevalent in show business.

Saul writes: "She had to lose thirty pounds if she wanted to stay in Hollywood. Los Angeles was a tough place to be an actress - it was a tough place to be a woman - and Jennifer Aniston’s agent was reluctantly levelling with her."

He added: "Aniston was hardly fat - everyone could see she was beautiful - but as the show she would one day become indelibly associated with later made a point of noting, the camera added ten pounds."

So how does Aniston feel about her health and weight these days? Pretty good to be honest. In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, Jen stated: "I think our bodies are beautiful, and I think celebrating them and being comfortable in them—no matter what age you are—is important. There shouldn’t be any kind of shame or discomfort around it.”

No wonder Jen looks so good - she's comfortable in her own skin, and that's the most essential way to look and feel amazing!
