Johnny Depp has said he's happy just to reprise his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow at kids' parties "at this point".
The actor made the revelation after discussing how he has been treated by Hollywood after losing his libel case against a British tabloid newspaper for describing him as a "wife-beater" after his ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of domestic abuse, Yahoo News reports.
Depp said at the San Sebastian Film Festival that he'd be happy now to just reprise his role a Captain Sparrow at children's parties.
The actor, 58, said of the iconic character: "The beauty of Captain Jack Sparrow for me is that I can travel with Captain Jack in a box, literally Captain Jack in a box, and when the opportunity is right I'm able to go and visit people and places where the smiles and the laughs and the things that are important, the most important things in the world, are on the line.
"So I still travel with Captain Jack and if I have the opportunity, whenever I do, I will go to these places. I'll go to somebody's house - man, I'll perform at your kid's birthday party at this point!"
Depp lost his high-profile libel case against the newspaper last year, and he was dropped from his leading role in the Harry Potter spin-off series Fantastic Beasts as a result of it.
The actor told the Sunday Times: "For Hollywood’s boycott of, erm, me? One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years?
"But, you know, I’m moving towards where I need to go to make all that… To bring things to light."
Depp's recent statement comes after the actor recently hit out at cancel culture and said that "no one is safe".
Per Deadline, Depp also made this revelation at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
"It can be seen as an event in history that lasted for however long it lasted, this cancel culture, this instant rush to judgement based on what essentially amounts to polluted air," Depp added.
Elaborating on his point, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star said:
"It’s so far out of hand now that I can promise you that no one is safe. Not one of you. No one out that door. No one is safe. It takes one sentence and there’s no more ground, the carpet has been pulled. It’s not just me that this has happened to, it’s happened to a lot of people.
"This type of thing has happened to women, men. Sadly at a certain point they begin to think that it’s normal. Or that it’s them. When it’s not.
"It doesn’t matter if a judgement, per se, has taken some artistic license. When there’s an injustice, whether it’s against you or someone you love, or someone you believe in – stand up, don’t sit down. ‘Cause they need you."
