Sarah Brady, the ex-girlfriend of Jonah Hill, has raised more serious allegations of "emotional abuse".
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Sarah shared multiple screenshots of text exchanges that occurred during their relationship.
The former couple, who began dating in August 2021, graced the red carpet at the Don’t Look Up premiere in December before parting ways in early 2022.
Sarah's Instagram story featured text messages from a contact saved as "Jonah," stipulating a list of demands for the semi-professional surfer.
The actor allegedly demanded she remove all swimwear pictures and videos from her Instagram profile. Furthermore, he spelled out his "boundaries" for continuing their "romantic partnership."
These included prohibiting Sarah from surfing with men or otherwise maintaining "boundaryless inappropriate friendships" with men, refraining from modeling, and not being friends with women "in unstable places" beyond casual lunch or coffee dates.
Sarah's unexpected revelation soon spread like wildfire across social media, sparking a significant discourse on the misuse of "therapy talk." She clarified her intentions behind the public exposure, stating: "Keeping it to myself was causing more damage to my mental health than sharing it could ever do."
A few days later, Sarah clarified that she waited to release these messages until after Jonah’s current girlfriend, Olivia Millar, had given birth, aiming to avoid causing stress during her pregnancy. Jonah and Olivia announced their daughter's arrival in early June.
Additional screenshots shared by Sarah revealed more about their relationship's dynamics, including messages she'd sent to her close contacts suggesting a cordial friendship with Jonah for six months post their split. She claimed that Jonah continued to be emotionally dependent on her after their breakup, even visiting her apartment in August 2022 and initiating a sexting episode.
In one alleged conversation, Jonah reached out to Sarah for a catch-up, following which he revealed that he'd started dating someone recently. The subsequent text read: "I know I don’t need to but in the spirit of pure respect to our friendship and appreciation for each other I did want to be transparent that I did start dating someone recently. I’m sorry if that is painful it just happened and I didn’t want to not be transparent with you ever as I care about you."
Sarah also shared paparazzi photos showing Jonah kissing Olivia on the beach, misidentified as Sarah at the time. She humorously commented on the fast-paced transition: "Impressive turnaround time btw."
A day later, Sarah urged Jonah to be honest with his new partner about their recent interactions, including flirting, sexting, and "partner level emotional support". Jonah allegedly responded with denial and a thumbs-down emoji, leading to a series of texts defending his actions and characterizing Sarah's allegations as a breach of trust.
Sarah continued to share her side of the story, claiming that Jonah made "financial promises" due to the work opportunities she’d declined at his request. She expressed feelings of betrayal, stating that she believed in the future they planned together and adjusted her life to accommodate Jonah's insecurities and jealousy.
Jonah has yet to make a public statement addressing Sarah's allegations.
