Kanye West and Kris Jenner had a tense argument over the musician’s mental health, a new documentary has revealed.
The film In Whose Name? was released in selected cinemas yesterday (September 19) and shows off ‘Ye’ in his typically controversial form.
In one particular scene, West could be seen having an impassioned debate with his then-mother-in-law Jenner about his time in hospital.

The film, directed by Nick Ballesteros, has attracted attention because of a particularly angry exchange between the Gold Digger rapper and Jenner.
West was married to Kim Kardashian at the time, and appeared to feel aggrieved and believe that nobody from the family supported him when he was hospitalized.

The 48-year-old also seemed to be angered by suggestions that he should take medication for his condition, stating to Jenner that he would ‘rather be dead than on medication’.
In the scene, West told Jenner: “No one from the family has taken any responsibility for my hospital visit,
“That's 50 percent of what people say at least. Am I lying?”
Kris responded: “It doesn’t matter…”
At that point, Ye screamed: “It does matter!”
He repeated that phrase loudly several times before Jenner cut back in: “I haven't finished the sentence,
“It matters to us and you.
“It doesn't matter what the internet says.
“It matters what we think, Ye.”

After a brief pause while West left the room, he returned to ask: “So, what do you think?
“Did you have an effect on my mental health?”
Kris responded: “Yes! I'm saying yes. and I love you,
“I love you. I don't want you to be not perfect.
“I love you, and I want my daughter to love you the way you want her to love you.”

The controversy doesn’t end there
The documentary also features some tense moments between Ye and his now ex-wife Kim.
The pair, who divorced in 2021 and have four children together, were clearly struggling in their marriage, and Kim could be heard crying and telling West: “Your personality was not like this a few years ago.”
Kim and Kanye were together for a long time, first being seen together in public in 2012.
However, despite sharing four kids together, the pair announced their split in 2021.
In Whose Name? is in selected cinemas now.
