Katie Holmes took to her Instagram stories yesterday to share some pictures of rural scenery, as well as a candid snap of her and her daughter, Suri Cruise.

In the black and white shot, the two cuddle up together smiling, and it's simply adorable. It's also pretty rare, given the fact that the last photograph Holmes posted of her daughter was 39 weeks ago, when the pair volunteered at a Moria refugee camp.

As well as the selfie, the actress shared a video of snowy trees and a windy road. To make the clip even more nostalgic, she chose to have Send Me On My Way by Rusted Roots play over it.

Earlier this year, Holmes opened up about motherhood. Speaking to Elle, she explained: "I was happy to become a mom in my 20s...It’s been nice that our ages fit…how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together."

And in conversation with Shape in November, she continued "I feel very blessed to have such a special daughter. Being her mom is absolutely the greatest gift and privilege."

In fact, she even disclosed that Suri is actually one of her favourite workout buddies. "Sometimes I work out with my daughter," the 41-year-old stated. "It just depends on the day. We have our routines and occasionally they overlap. But I don't force her to work out with me because I know that's lame."

As to what she's passed down to her daughter? "I try to focus, at home, on healthy eating and being creative and artistic and not so much on beauty so much. Beauty comes from within," she told presenters at the E! News at the 2017 Fragrance Foundation Awards.
