It's fair to say that 2019 hasn't exactly been the best year thus far for Khloé Kardashian, and over the last few weeks, her ego has taken some serious hits from critics and haters alike. Things first started to go downhill for the reality TV star after she decided to break up with her long-term partner, and father of her child, Tristan Thompson. Thompson (who doesn't exactly have a spotless record when it comes to infidelity by the way) allegedly cheated on Khloé with Kylie Jenner's best friend Jordyn Woods at a party the two were at, and when Khloé found out about this indiscretion, she decided to end the relationship.
There's been a lot of drama in the aftermath of the scandal. Jordyn Woods and Tristan Thompson have both come exiles as far as the Kardashians are concerned, even though Jordyn Woods has denied that she and Tristan ever slept together. However, now Khloé is facing yet more backlash, after donning an interesting costume while at a celebrity's birthday party, which some detractors have deemed insensitive.
Khloé Kardashian discusses having her "boobs done" in stunning Diana Ross-inspired outfit:This week, Khloé attended the legendary singer Diana Ross' 75th birthday party. In a tribute to the Chain Reaction singer, Khloé showed up at the birthday bash wearing a plunging gold gown, with her typically-straight blonde hair made curly and permed for the night out. This decision ended up generating some controversy on Instagram due to claims of cultural appropriation.
After pictures of Khloé in her Diana Ross getup were uploaded to the Instagram page The Shade Room, many Instagram users commented negatively on her dress. For example, one person with the handle imissboogy wrote: "Somebody said she having a midwhite crisis! ??? Not me, bit somebody! [sic]"
And harlem_lyric typed: "She almost looks like the black woman she wished she was [sic]"
Meanwhile, someone else defended Khloé's outfit, writing: "She’s dressed for the theme though, why y’all always mad? GODDAMN ? [sic]"
And xotothedeath0903 commented: "Y’all do realize that white people can be born with curly hair? ?So by her wearing curly hair it’s not cultural appropriation. Now if she would’ve worn cornrows or box braids that’s a different story. [sic]"
Earlier this month, Khloé managed to incur even more controversy, after advocating meal replacements in a sponsored Instagram post. Actress and activist Jameela Jamil criticised her publically, stating: "If you're too irresponsible to: a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product...And b) tell them the side effects of this NON-FDA approved product, that most doctors are saying aren't healthy ... then I guess I have to."
She added: "It's incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance. That's the media's fault. But now please don't put that back into the world, and hurt other girls, the way you would have been hurt. You're a smart woman. Be smarter than this. [sic]"
Okay, so maybe Khloé has made a few faux pas lately, but go easy on her guys: she's still getting over her breakup.
