Kim Kardashian is getting candid about a recent health scare - but what exactly is the condition that she has?
The Skims mogul revealed on the season seven premiere of The Kardashians that doctors recently found a brain aneurysm during a routine MRI.
The discovery came as a shock, adding to an already complex timeline of public health struggles and personal upheaval.
In the episode, Kim discussed the diagnosis with her sister Kourtney Kardashian. “They found a little aneurysm,” Kim said, prompting a stunned “Whoa” from Kourtney. Cameras then showed Kim being slid into an MRI machine as her brain scans appeared onscreen.
The emotional weight of the moment hit later, when Kim was seen breaking down over the phone: “Why the f**k is this happening?”
According to the NHS, a brain aneurysm is a ballooning blood vessel in the brain that can become life-threatening if it bursts. However, if unruptured, it’s often monitored rather than surgically treated.
The health service notes that a small aneurysm - like Kim's - often doesn't display any symptoms, but larger ones can cause significant issues.
The symptoms are listed as such:
The main symptom is listed as a sudden, severe headache, and if the aneurysm bursts, it can cause a bleed on the brain.
While speaking on the show, Kim said doctors had linked the aneurysm to stress - and she made it clear that much of it stemmed from her relationship with Kanye West.
The former couple, who tied the knot in 2014, officially divorced in 2022 after Kim filed for separation in 2021 citing irreconcilable differences. Together, they share four children: North, 12, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, six.
Reflecting on the intense emotional toll of their marriage, Kim said: “I’m happy it’s over.”
In a heartfelt confessional, she continued: “People think that I have the luxury of walking away. My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together.”
This isn’t the first time Kim has shared details about her medical history. In 2022, she revealed that a dramatic 16-pound weight loss to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress for the Met Gala led to a flare-up of psoriasis, which eventually progressed into psoriatic arthritis.
She’s also spoken openly about her complicated pregnancies, including a condition called placenta accreta - which can cause severe bleeding - during the births of North and Saint.
