Saved by the Bell star Mario Lopez has faced backlash online after posting a questionable AI-generated video of his teenage niece.
The 52-year-old attended an LA Dodgers game with his niece on Sunday evening (August 2), and even posted a video of the pair enjoying the sporting spectacle.
But that's not what caused outrage online - the former US X Factor judge also posted an "AI slop" video starring his teenage niece, Kalia.
Viewers claimed that the video was "sexual" in nature, as the actor used Elon Musk's Grok Imagine feature to create the bizarre AI video.
He posted it to X, with the caption: “I can’t take my niece anywhere!”
In the video, she can be seen eating two hot dogs with a lot of mustard at once, and the actor says he can't take her anywhere.
The condiment spills on her top, before Kalia rubs the remaining mustard on her face, saying that it's "so good."
It doesn't take a genius to notice that the imagery of the hot dogs and mustard can come across as inappropriate, especially as she is Lopez's niece.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 3.8 million views, but the comments are filled with users criticizing the actor.
One wrote: "Uhhhh, what a creepy video for Mario Lopez to create using AI and then post… Especially since the subject is his niece!"
Another added: "They should arrest you for this," as a third wrote: "Hey man this is the worst f***ing thing I’ve ever seen."
More comments read: “That is definitely sexualizing your niece my guy," as a different user agreed: “Posting sexual AI content of your niece is disgusting behavior…”
"Unfortunately it’s too late to delete. But you still should anyways," a fifth urged.
But not everyone was disgusted, with a select few coming to Lopez's defence, as one said: “Wow, everyone thinks this is creepy and sexualized. I think he's being a typical young uncle.
"It's a joke, because much like every teen girl, she's worried about her image and doesn't want to be embarrassed and he's making her look silly and gross and weird.”
Neither Lopez nor his niece have commented on the controversial yet viral AI slop video.
Lopez, a father-of-three, has been married since 2012, and has previously spoken about the values that he teaches his children.
"I want to teach them to never forget where they came from and to always try to be better," he told Yahoo Life.
Lopez has shared snaps of his niece over the years, having wished her happy birthday several times in the past, even joking one year that she was in a "growing up competition" with someone named Gigi.
