Not many of us will have the opportunity to pay Queen Elizabeth II a visit and be invited to a banquet at Buckingham Palace.

It might very well be an honour, but it's also a pretty daunting prospect, what with all the rigid protocols you are expected to adhere to. But there's also the question of what to get the Queen as a gift.

I mean, if you're getting a dinner as lavish as a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, then it would be rude not to.

This is the touching moment that the Queen's Royal Guards paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin:

Luckily, First Lady Melania Trump knew exactly what to get Queen Elizabeth as part of her and her husband President Donald Trump's on-going state visit to the UK.

The pair presented her with an Elsa Peretti sterling silver and red silk poppy brooch known as Amapola, which is Spanish for Poppy.

The £600 jewel came in a custom White House wood jewellery box inside a red leather box. Given how much the Queen treasures her current collection of brooches, we're sure she was pleased with the thoughtful gift.

Prince Philip, on the other hand, received a personalised Air Force One jacket from the Trumps - a very fitting gift considering the 97-year-old Duke had a Private Pilot's License and only stopped flying at the age of 76.

The Queen gave President Trump a first edition of The Second World War by Winston S Churchill from 1959, in addition to a three-piece Duofold pen set which included a fountain pen, rollerball pen and ball point pen with EIIR cypher.

The president's wife Melania received a commissioned silver box with a handcrafted enamel lid. The royal blue box is decorated with roses, shamrocks and thistles to resemble the ceiling of Buckingham Palace's music room.
