It was almost ten years ago that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met on the set of their movie The Last Song. It's been a rocky road for the couple in the near-decade since then, but it looks like it's all paid off now, as they've finally tied the knot.

For three years they had an off-and-on-again relationship, with plenty of break-ups and rumours that they had got back together. All the way back in 2012 there were engagement rumours, with Miley denying it after she was seen wearing a ring.

"I'm not engaged. I've worn this same ring on this finger since November!" she wrote at the time. "People just wanna find something to talk about! It's a topaz people!"

However, a few months later, they announced their engagement to the world, but that wasn't the end of their worries. In 2013, Miley was spotted without her engagement ring, unfollowed Liam on Twitter, and then confirmed that their engagement had been broken off entirely. They stayed friends during this period, but kept their friendship private - so even their most obsessive fans didn't really know how close they were.

In 2016, rumours spread that they were back together and "beyond happy" about the reunion. "At the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen," Liam told GQ of their 2013 split. "We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that.”

Later that year, Miley confirmed that they were once again engaged during an interview with Ellen, and everything got back on track. She ended up writing the song 'Malibu' about him, and spoke openly about their break-up, including how they had to "refall for each other" when they got back together.

Now, over six years after their initial engagement, they've finally got married in a small ceremony the weekend before Christmas.

Photos appeared on Instagram from their guests appeared first, with Miley's white dress and their joint cutting of the cake a dead giveaway, before they made it official with a few black and white photos of the wedding.

Funnily enough, it was only last year that Miley sounded like marriage was not on the cards anytime soon. Speaking to the The Sun on Sunday she said:

"I don't envision marriage. I'm 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do.

"Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned. I’m just riding this out. In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more.

"I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

It looks like she's got her wish. Congrats to the happy couple!
