The world of celebrity dating is a funny old place, isn't it? I mean, quite honestly, why do any of us care? Literally, what difference does it make that our favourite singer/actor/TV host has a love interest? Would you care if it's your colleague? Nope. Your neighbour? Nah. Even your sibling? Not really. So, in all honesty, why does it matter?
Sadly, I cant give you the answer to that question. But, what I can tell you is that the internet is losing its collective mind over the fact that Ariana Grande has a new boyfriend.
So, who is he? Why, he's Pete Davidson, of course! (No? Me neither).
The duo became official after rumours began circulating that Grande had ditched her former rapper-beau Mac Miller in favour for the SNL star. Upon hearing the news that Grande and Mac had split - and that the rapper had been arrested for DUI in the aftermath- many of his fans criticised the singer for leaving the rapper who had apparently penned an entire album about Grande. One fan wrote:
"Mac Miller totalling [sic] his G wagon and getting a DUI after Ariana Grande dumped him for another dude after he poured his heart out on a ten song album to her called the divine feminine is just the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood."
However, it seems that, despite her innocent-girl image, Grande doesn't suffer fools lightly. And, after one too many tweets criticising her for leaving the troubled rapper, Grande responded to the above tweet, writing: "How absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which btw isn't the case (just Cinderella is ab me)."
Then, she explained how frustrating it was to have to look after someone other than herself.
"I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be.
"I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man's inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem. Let's please stop doing that.
"Of course I didn't share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well."
But, while the world has unanimously rejoiced that Grande has a new man (I haven't stopped celebrating tbh), one person probably isn't too keen.
Pete's girlfriend, Cazzie David, has been a silent party throughout all the rumours. After spending some time on safari, Cazzie reappeared on her Instagram to write: "Been in Africa, what’d I miss ??"
The sarcastic caption was undoubtedly a hint about the absolute s**tstorm that has surrounded Cazzie's personal life over the past few months and was the perfect clap-back about the rumours surrounding the 24-year-old.
But, Cazzie, if you are genuinely wondering what you have missed, I'd be more than happy to tell you. Essentially, two people - one of whom is your ex - have entered a relationship. That is it. That is all. There is nothing more to it. But somehow it's a story.
