Just a month after they started dating, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged. Sure, that seems pretty fast, but so what? When you know, you know. To quote Justin's new song with Quavo, DJ Khaled and Chance The Rapper: "You stick out of the crowd, baby, it's a no-brainer / It ain't that hard to choose." (I live my life by Justin Bieber lyrics, and so should you.)
Reportedly the 24-year-old singer popped the question to Hailey while they were on vacation in the Bahamas. Then he made it official on Instagram, with a loving message: "Was gonna wait a while to say anything but word travels fast, listen plain and simple Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you! So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY."
But while they got engaged with lightning speed, they're putting the brakes on the ceremony. A source told People, "The wedding planning has slowed down a bit." Apparently, they felt overwhelmed by the nuptials, which explains why they broke down crying in public. "It was getting quite intense and they realized they want to enjoy being engaged for a while," said the insider. "It’s not like they need to rush—they are both so young."
Some fans were happy for Jailey, while others mourned the loss of Jelena, again. Yes, again. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez decided to give romance a second shot, dating from November 2017 to March 2018. However, it just didn't work out. Reportedly Selena's family didn't have Bieber Fever, which created rifts in some of her closet relationships.
Fans wondered how Selena would take the news that her ex suddenly got engaged. Was she heartbroken, crying on the couch, scarfing down ice cream? No. The first time the pop star stepped out in public, post-engagement, she wore a shirt with the message "Only the strong survive." Then she broke seven days of social media silence by posting a work-out photo, looking like straight fire.
However, this strong, defiant image might just be a facade. Recently an inside source told HollywoodLife.com. that Selena "would be crushed" if Justin and Hailey get married.
"Selena is quietly, secretly hoping and praying that Justin never goes through with his marriage to Hailey. The times Selena was most happy in life were days when she was with Justin, and she always thought she would be the one marrying him, not Hailey. Selena can’t help but feel like the longer Justin and Hailey stay engaged the less likely they will actually get married. Selena fears a marriage between Justin and Hailey would crush her."
This is one of those shadowy unverified sources, so we cannot confirm its reliability. As of this writing, Selena has not publicly commented on Jailey's engagement. So, we'll have to wait to see if the wedding "crushes" her, or she really doesn't care.
