Actress Shay Mitchell has clapped back at mom-shamers on social media this week, following her giving birth to her first daughter and posting a breastfeeding pic on Instagram.
The trouble began when Shay took to Instagram wearing an open green leather jacket with puffy sleeves, and black underwear. Shay was posing with the camera while holding her newborn baby girl Atlas Noa, whom she had with boyfriend Matte Babel. She captioned the post simply: "Breast friends."
Shay Mitchell candidly discusses her pregnancy:However, a troll was dismissive of the post and took to the comments to write: "I'm a fan of her, but this picture just says it's an attention-getter. She's not even looking at the baby, she's not connected with the baby she's connected with the camera."
However, Shay promptly came back with an awesome retort in which she stated: "I missed the part in the baby books where it stated I had to maintain eye contact with my daughter while she feeds rather than capturing an amazing moment we were having. Pls let me know where I can download your parenting manual, I'll get right on it! [sic]"
Shay was backed up in the comments by former Buffy The Vampire Slayer actress Charisma Carpenter, who wrote: "Imagine weaponing the ability to multitask. Imagine shaming a woman for wearing a gown, having her photo taken while both being the source of life-sustaining nutrition and looking beautiful and confident at the same time. Imagine if that criticism was love instead. What a world it would be if women just supported each other. [sic]"
Shay first announced her pregnancy in this YouTube video earlier this year:She later added: "People are triggered up in this comment section. Who knew a nursing baby, a beautiful woman, and a camera could be so controversial. Jesus, wasn’t the President impeached today?"
