Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza turned heads at the Cannes Film Festival — but it wasn’t just for the release of their new movie.
The two stars - who attended the world premiere of Honey Don’t! on Friday - became a viral sensation thanks to a flirty moment on the red carpet that was captured by paparazzi cameras.
Dressed in festival finery, the Honey Don’t! co-stars posed together alongside the rest of the film’s cast and crew. But fans were especially focused on a clip that surfaced online showing Qualley gliding her hand down to Plaza’s waist. Plaza responded in kind — hugging Qualley and gently patting her on the butt as they both giggled.

Their playful chemistry instantly became the talk of X (formerly Twitter), adding a moment of levity to the glamour of the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
“Margaret Qualley letting her intrusive thoughts win for a second there,” one fan tweeted.
“This makes more sense than Margaret and Jack actually,” joked another, referencing Qualley’s husband Jack Antonoff.
“Jack has no chance against Aubrey lol,” added another fan.
“Never let your husband stop you from finding your wife,” one user wrote with a wink.

Qualley has since leaned into the playful moment, sharing the clip to her Instagram page as part of a carousel displaying moments from the night. She captioned the post: Honey Don’t [...] I love these people so damn much. Dream come true. Thank you."
And it wasn't long before the comments section was full of comments about her particular "hand placement".
One fan swiftly commented: "Hello????? The hand placement?????"
A second wrote: " love how Margaret Qualley uploads the video where she touches Aubrey Plaza's [peach emoji], that beautiful hand can touch whatever it wants."
"THE A** HOLDING BYEEEEEE," commented a third, with another writing: "THE HAND PLACEMENT MY LOVES."
"Her posting THE video that went viral, at least in my head, is the most wholesome thing ever and whatever will happen, I could very much die happy now," another added.

While Qualley is married to record producer Jack Antonoff — whom she wed in a private ceremony in 2023 attended by friends like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey — this red carpet moment was all about friendship and fun.
During the film’s screening, Plaza received a warm and enthusiastic standing ovation from the audience.
The Cannes appearance marked a meaningful public return. It was her first red carpet since the tragic death of her husband, director Jeff Baena, who died by suicide in January at age 47.
Plaza had made her first public appearance since her husband's passing at the SNL 50 anniversary special back on February 16.
Plaza's appearance came just six weeks after Baena - who was a writer and director - was found deceased at the age of 47 on January 3, 2025, at the couple's home in Los Angeles.
