It's become more and more common for men to admit that they have a guy crush on somebody; someone that they admire and look up, and maybe even love more than their partners in some instances. Apparently, this behaviour isn't just confined to us Average Joes, and male celebrities are just as vulnerable to being seduced by another bloke as anyone else.
If you want proof of this phenomenon then look no further than Ryan Reynolds, who seems to really be crushing on X-Men actor Hugh Jackman. Maybe it's just because Ryan has totally become the character of Deadpool at this point - his character has a similar dynamic with Wolverine in the comics - but it seems like the jokes about the claw-wielding mutant are more or less constant these days.
However, if a recent Twitter post is to be believed, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynold's wife Blake Lively would actually look eerily similar to one another if they were the same gender. Can this be a coincidence? I somehow doubt it.
The trouble first began when a Twitter page called BUZZNET shared a post, in which they shared an image of what Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds would look like if they were gender-swapped.
Although Ryan just looked like himself with longer hair, the female Hugh bore a remarkable similarity to Blake Lively. How awkward!
BUZZNET captioned their post "Female Hugh Jackman kinda looks like Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively and now I can't unsee it." To the surprise of a number of social media users, Ryan replied to the post on Twitter, tweeting: "Neither can I. Thanks for this."
In a recent appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Reynolds opened up about his relationship with Jackman and his hopes for a Wolverine-Deadpool buddy-cop movie (despite the fact that Wolvie was famously killed off in Logan). He stated: "I would love to do a Deadpool/Wolverine mashup at some point, some kind of Logan thing. I don't know; he's on this kick ball change kick right now. I can't seem to bring him back. I can't seem to bring him back to the violence and mayhem."
He added: "I'm trying. I talk to him every other day. Every other day he takes the call. But yeah, no, it's not really a rivalry. It's war. He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms. I just said, 'You know, I just don't think the world really wants to see Deadpool with Wolverine.' Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it, for Deadpool."
Personally, I'd love to see a movie where Wolverine and Deadpool team up. But on the other hand, the ending of Logan was so perfect that I'm not sure I want anyone to spoil it, ya know?
