Ron Perlman, who is best known for starring in FX's Sons of Anarchy, has taken to social media to publicly call President Donald Trump a "narcissistic murderer" in a scathing tweet.

On Sunday (November 1), the 70-year-old actor - who plays Clay Morrow in the hit show - took to Twitter to write: "The saying 'may the best man win' does not apply to Tuesday’s election."

He added: "There is only one good man and the other is responsible for over 240k American deaths. It’s time to band together and vote this narcissistic murderer out of office."

The tweet currently has 31.2k likes, 5.9k retweets, and 457 quote tweets at the time of writing.

Many of Perlman's followers have replied to the scathing comments, showing support for his statement criticizing the incumbent president.

One Twitter user wrote: "I knew I liked you but following your tweets, I like you even better, thanks for your common sense and compassion and even though I'm a Brit I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Tuesday's result."

Another said: "True statement brother. Americans it's our time to take our beloved country back and be free again from one of the darkest times in our history. Find what drives u from within on Tuesday! Make your one vote count! Vote for Joe!"

One user reasoned: "Technically there are no good men in this election, but one is far, FAR worse than the other."

In a follow-up tweet, Perlman wrote: "Apparently the US is the best at testing, which makes our cases so high. Apparently, we're also the best at dying. So much for rounding the corner."

According to the BBC, almost 100 million Americans have already cast their ballots in early voting, making it likely that this presidential election will have the highest turnout in a century.

Both the Republican president and Democratic presidential candidate Biden spent the last few hours of the race rallying in key swing states. National polls still indicate that Biden is in a very strong position.

Speaking to Fox News today (November 3), Trump was confident about his chances and predicted he would win "big" in states such as Florida and Arizona.

"I think we have a really solid chance of winning," he said.
