The 21-year-old conservationist, best known as the son of late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, has traded in his khakis for colorful boxers, a six-pack, and some slithery co-stars in the now-viral “Made for Down Under” shoot for Australian brand Bonds.
And if you thought the photos were something, wait until you see what went into them.
In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday night, Robert shows off exactly how he prepped for the shoot.
The clip features him shirtless—naturally—doing push-ups and lifting weights in a suburban front yard while the production team moves around him. He laughs, smiles, and casually knocks out a set like it’s no big deal.
And while Robert didn’t break a sweat, the internet definitely did.
“Robert, stop we can’t take anymore,” one fan begged in the comments. Another wrote: “I shouldn’t like what I see right???” while someone else added: “Millennials are deeply conflicted over this.” One particularly grateful viewer summed it up: “What a great day to have eyes.”
The cheeky campaign, which dropped on April 2 just ahead of Bonds’ expansion into the U.S. market, features Irwin posing shirtless alongside snakes and venomous spiders. But if you thought that part would be the scariest for him, think again.
“I mean, I've spent my life wrangling crocs and snakes and rescuing animals. And so to feature a little slice of that excitement in this new campaign, mate, it has been so much fun,” he said. “I mean, I'm surrounded by spiders and snakes except [this time] I'm in my undies. That's the only difference.”
Despite the new territory, Robert didn’t hesitate when the offer came his way.
“It was a pretty immediate yes,” he told PEOPLE. “I’m at this point in my life where I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things, and if it’s something that makes me a little bit nervous, that I’ve never done before and it’s a bit of an adrenaline rush? That’s what I want to be doing.”
He even imagined how his dad might have reacted to seeing him strip down for the camera. “My dad probably would’ve shouted a few ‘Crikeys,’” he joked.
To get in top form for the campaign, Irwin said he focused on fitness and nutrition - upping the workouts, doing more sit-ups and sprints, and cutting back on carbs.
“Wellness and fitness have always been a big part of my life, and one of the things that got me excited to be part of my recent Bond’s shoot was that it gave me a real goal to strive toward,” he said. “I wanted to feel my best to represent Australia!”
He shared some advice with fans hoping to get in shape too: “There isn’t one single formula to follow. I reckon the most important thing is not to compare yourself to anyone else, just keep trying to be the best version of YOU.
“Listen to your body, keep moving and improving. Treat your whole body, inside and out with kindness, focus on good nutrition and apply a healthy amount of discipline. It has done wonders for my mind, and given me that extra lightness in my step.”
It’s not just his abs that fans are loving - Robert’s confidence and wholesome energy are winning people over, too.
One person joked: “Robert I’m trying to be a lesbian over here.” Another confessed: “Not me looking at Steve’s son like this,” while a third added: “Bro calm down my wife is on this app.”
