This was the hilarious moment Cardi B realized Donald Glover and Childish Gambino are the same person

Donald Glover is on top of the world right now. He's already had a number of years in which he has dominated multiple mediums like it's nobody's business, but 2018 is definitely a big year for the actor/writer/director/producer/singer/rapper/stand-up comedian.

Glover first made his name as a writer for the sitcom 30 Rock from 2006 to 2009. Around the same time, he started releasing mixtapes under the name of Childish Gambino and set up his own sketch comedy group Derrick Comedy - which resulted in the feature-length comedy Mystery Team being released in 2009. From there, he became far more widely known through the sitcom Community, in which he starred for five seasons.

It was after Community that his career started to reach new levels, with Childish Gambino becoming a bigger name in hip-hop. Since then, we've seen Glover star in Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Martian, as well as create, star and write his own show: the critically-acclaimed Atlanta. Meanwhile, his Childish Gambino persona released 'Awaken, My Love!' in 2016 to great success, with the hit single Redbone receiving three Grammy nominations including Record of the Year and eventually winning the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance.

This year, Glover escalated things by putting out another stellar season of Atlanta and taking on the role of Lando Calrissian in the cosmic blockbuster prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story. No doubt as part of this surge in notoriety, he hosted and performed on Saturday Night Live earlier this month. This was the perfect time to release his latest single, 'This Is America', which quickly went viral and attracted just as much deep analysis as it did people looking for a good jam.

There was a point, amidst all of this, that his work made both 'Donald Glover' and 'Childish Gambino' hit the top trending list as hashtags on Twitter. It's pretty hard to get up there as it is, but being there twice... at the same time? Now that's a feat. With his dual-trending and multimedia-multi-tasking it's easy to think it's all too much for one person - at least, that's what Cardi B seemed to think.

The rapper has achieved her own success lately, with her song 'Bodak Yellow' winning Single of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards last year, with her debut studio album hitting charts in April. Despite becoming one of the biggest names in the business, she still stumbled across a blunder over Glover's musical persona on Twitter.

"It's amazing how Donald Glover and Childish Gambino look soo much alike," she tweeted. "I think they secretly the same person. So dope!" Minutes later, she came across her mistake, adding: "Wait. I'm confuse now?!"

She has since deleted the tweet, but the rest of Twitter hasn't forgotten. "If you didn't know childish gambino was Donald Glover you're a fake fan," one user tweeted, while another added, "feel bad for the people just realisiing childish gambino is donald glover, wait until they find out about hannah montana".

Maybe next time you think two people look alike, double check whether they are the same person before you tweet about it?
