You don't want to mess with Tyra Banks. She made that pretty clear during her dynamic appearances on America's Top Model, but it's something you can see just by looking at her. Just like Rihanna, Banks could make you crumble with a glance. It's part of what comes with having a strong personality and a great sense of style.
Starting off as a supermodel, she quickly spread into different industries. She's now a television personality, producer, actress, businesswoman, author and even an occasional singer. She was the first African American woman to be featured on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1997 to 2005, becoming one of the world's top-earning models by the early 2000s.
Her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show, aired on The CW for five seasons and won two Emmys. She even published a young adult novel - which topped the New York Times Best Seller list in 2011. She gained yet more popularity with her role on America's Next Top Model, turning that success into an opportunity to launch her own make-up and skin-care brand, which launched in 2014.
She's even a guest lecturer at Stanford University where she's taught two graduate classes on building your own brand.
25 students were part of the course, titled 'Project You: Building and Extending your Personal Brand' - taught by Banks alongside Allison Kluger, a management professor at Stanford. Students were asked to create a video that states "who you are, what your personal brand is, and what you want it to be", and eventually attempt to share this personal branding on Facebook Live, YouTube, and even live TV.
With this much going for her, it's clear why even a glance from her has so much power. Now, the former supermodel has proved that she still has a stunning and distinctive image without makeup.
Banks recently posted several selfies from her time camping (well, glamping), choosing to go makeup-free. In the Instagram post, she captioned one image with:
"When we work really hard, it’s important to take time to recharge and take care of ourselves. I’m taking time for me so I have more energy and focus for YOU. ?#Glamping"
While it may come to a surprise to many of her fans to see her got makeup-free on social media, this isn't the first time she has done this. In the past, she has proudly been part of a movement of no-makeup selfies, captioning one simply with "Me". She received plenty of good feedback from her fans at the time, too.
"Thank you for sharing your dark circles (like mine), they are beautiful," one user wrote. Another added, "I love how real you are. Thank you Ty Ty!".
While it may have only taken a moment out from her day, makeup-free selfies undoubtedly have an impact on others, especially when they come from someone as glamorous as Tyra Banks.
