Adult animated comedy Family Guy is known for pushing the boundaries, often making jokes that many people would rather just think and not actually say.

From Kim Kardashian to Kenny Loggins, it seems no one is truly safe from the twisted mind of Seth MacFarlane.

And while most would ignore the show's often-cruel jokes, not everyone is immune to feeling hurt by the mockery.

In fact, actress Chloë Grace Moretz has revealed that a viral Family Guy meme about her turned her into a "recluse", and that she still has a hard time overcoming it.

Speaking to Hunger magazine, the 26-year-old explained that she has had to deal with paparazzi and life in the public eye, after working in the film industry for almost two decades. She shot to fame in 2012 after appearing in superhero comedy Kick-Ass, alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicolas Cage, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Naturally, the conversation focused on her life as a child star, and how it felt to grow up in the spotlight in front of millions of people. "The first time I experienced paparazzi, it was 10 to 15 adult guys surrounding a 12-year-old girl. They pushed my mom and she ended up falling into traffic - she didn't get hurt, but the situation was really chaotic," Moretz said.

"It's an assault on all the senses, with screaming and flashes. I got into the car afterwards and I just burst into tears," she added.

The actress also spoke about the cruel Family Guy meme that poked fun at her appearance, saying: "I've actually never really talked about this, but there was one meme that really affected me, of me walking into a hotel with a pizza box in my hand. And this photo got manipulated into a character from Family Guy with the long legs and the short torso, and it was one of the most widespread memes at the time."

The meme stemmed from an innocuous paparazzi image of the actress - who was dressed in black shorts and heels - carrying two pizza boxes. But the image was edited so that her torso appeared unnaturally short, and her legs incredibly long, making for a rather unusual look.

She continued: "Everyone was making fun of my body and I brought it up with someone and they were like, 'Oh, shut the f*** up, it's funny.' And I just remember sitting there and thinking, my body is being used as a joke and it’s something that I can’t change about who I am, and it is being posted all over Instagram."

The young award-winning actress also told the outlet that the meme really affected her mentally, removing "a layer of something" that she used to enjoy, which was dressing up and walking on the red carpet. She added that she used to "hyperventilate" when posing for photographs and that she basically "became a recluse."

Moretz has always been outspoken, with the star having commented on a naked picture Kim Kardashian uploaded to social media.

The image in question showed the mother-of-three in her bathroom, posing in the mirror:

Seemingly perturbed by the post, Chloë commented stating: "@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer."

It was the beginning of an all-out feud between the pair, with Kardashian swooping back in to throw some shade at the Kick-Ass star who she believed had slut-shamed her. "let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo," she wrote, referencing Chloë's spot on the front of the December/January 2016 cover of Nylon wearing what initially appeared to be just a jacket. It was later clarified that she was wearing a bodysuit underneath.
